Reporters yesterday learned from the Jiaxing entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the AQSIQ recently issued an urgent notice that all imported and exported leather, fur and products must be tested for harmful chemical azo dyes and formaldehyde.

As a national export base for leather, fur and products, there are more than 200 enterprises in this city limited.

It is understood that the AQSIQ issued the "notice on strengthening the detection of harmful chemicals in leather, fur and products", divided the products into three categories: A, B and C, and added azo dyes, formaldehyde and other testing items.

According to statistics, last year, the export volume of the above three products in the city reached 9600 batches, with an amount exceeding 338 million dollars.

The latest inspection and inspection system for fur products by the city's inspection and quarantine system showed that the formaldehyde content of the 20 fur samples was 20%.

The results of the inspection and Quarantine Department of Haining also showed that the unqualified rate of 388 samples was 1.3%.

It is understood that many of the original raw materials enterprises in our city intended to use unqualified leather, fur and their products in export garments that did not require the use of environmentally friendly dyes in non EU countries, which is one of the reasons for the unsatisfactory results of spot checks.

The entry exit inspection and quarantine department reminds the relevant production enterprises to improve production processes as soon as possible, control the content of formaldehyde in order to adapt to the new standards, improve the pass rate of export inspection, and purchase raw materials from large and reputable suppliers to reduce risks.

In addition, the detection of banned azo dyes has expanded from the 25 EU countries to all export countries and regions. When considering contracts with customers, enterprises should consider the cost of detection, especially small scale fur processing enterprises with small quantities and orders, and the export cost will be raised.
