Recently, international environmental protection Spin The Oeko-Tex Associationa released the 2014 edition of Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Testing standards and limit values of eco friendly textiles We will actively support and assist global brands and retailers to eliminate harmful chemicals in the whole production process by 2020.

Compared with the 2013 edition, the environmental protection textile association, the official representative of China's Beijing Textile Inspection Co., Ltd. (TESTEX), did not add new test items to the new standard. Instead, it expanded the scope of the hazardous substances investigated in individual projects and tightened the limited values of specific substances. Among them, all perfluorinated compounds examined by the international environmental textile association were listed separately as a category of substances. They were no longer uniformly classified as "other residual chemicals". The test of alkylphenoxy compounds extended to ethoxylate chains (1~20). Meanwhile, 4 long chain perfluorinated compounds were added to the new standard catalogue, with the same limit as that of perfluorooctanoic acid. According to international

As is known to all, perfluorinated compounds are often used for waterproofing, oil proofing, finishing and coating treatment of textiles. Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and perfluorooctanoic acid are persistent pollutants in ionic perfluorinated compounds, which are difficult to degrade and form bioaccumulation and reproductive toxicity in humans. Nonylphenol is a recognized toxic and harmful substance with persistent and bioaccumulation in the world. It has the effect of simulating natural estrogens, and its influence is often irreversible, and it takes a long time to show it. These harmful chemicals in textiles will not only pose a potential threat to human health, but also cause serious pollution to the environment (water and soil) during the production process.

International Environmental Textile Association At the beginning of each year, the standard renewal is often recognized as a trade barrier by domestic textile enterprises, so as to avoid it. But in fact, the association is standing on the shoulders of giants, trying hard to collect the latest research results of toxic and harmful substances in the world, and through the strict screening and identification of experts, to contribute to the global textile industry and the health and environmental protection of all mankind. In an interview with our reporter, Yan Yan, a customer service director of the customer service center, said that China, as a major producer and exporter of textiles, should enhance its own research and innovation strength, and turn it from production and labor intensive to technology intensive as soon as possible, thus becoming a real textile power.

According to Yan Yan, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is the most authoritative and most acceptable standard of ecological textiles testing and certification all over the world. In 2013, the international environmental Textile Association awarded 12555 Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificates worldwide. The geographical distribution of certificates continued to shift to Asian markets, accounting for 59.7% in Asia (59% in the previous year) and 37.2% in Europe (38% in the previous year). The highest holders of certificates are China, Germany, Turkey, India, Bangladesh and Italy. It is not difficult to see that Chinese enterprises still have obvious advantages and strong stamina in competing for international market share.

With the increasing attention of the global industry to the safety and environmental protection of textile consumption, the work of environmental textiles certification will continue to heat up. As the Oeko-Tex standard covers all the ecological requirements of textiles all over the world, Target, Walmart and other large international purchasers have included the standards of Oeko-Tex environmental textiles in their procurement standards. In this regard, the company has recommended that the domestic textile production enterprises establish a sound chemical control system, strengthen the exchange and exchange of supply chain, start from raw materials, strictly control the procurement links, and eliminate prohibition and restriction of material from the source.

It is reported that the new version of the standard and limited value enjoys a 3 month transitional period and will take effect from April 1, 2014.
