Obama Announces Five Economic Recovery Plans
US President elect Obama announced the five major contents of the economic recovery plan on 6 th, that is, the government's energy saving, the construction of the largest infrastructure in China over the past 50 years, the upgrading of the largest school hardware in history, the improvement of medical conditions and the popularization of broadband networks.
He hoped that the plan could solve the current economic crisis and improve employment rate while enhancing the international competitiveness of the United States.
Obama said in a radio address that the economic situation was not good enough to cause the following questions: "do you still have the ability to send your children to university?
Can we still pay for medical expenses?
Can you live a decent and secure life after retirement?
Are you, your husband or your daughter still able to work? "
He said he would push Congress to pass an economic recovery plan to save or create at least 2 million 500 thousand jobs to help nearly 2 million Americans who lost their jobs know that they have a future.
The main content of the economic recovery plan is to increase investment in infrastructure construction.
Obama said: "with the largest single investment in our infrastructure since the establishment of the federal highway system in 1950s, we can create millions of jobs."
Considering that the federal government's infrastructure construction funds may not be delegated in time because of bureaucratic bureaucracy, he said: "we will set a simple rule for all States: either use it or abandon it.
If the state fails to invest quickly in roads and bridges in the state, it will lose the money. "
According to the plan, the new government will increase investment in infrastructure and take energy conservation measures to reduce expenditure.
According to Obama, the new government will take measures to make public buildings more energy efficient. "The government must pay the most expensive energy bill in the world now," he said.
He promised to upgrade federal office facilities, update heating equipment and install energy-saving bulbs, which not only save taxpayers' money, but also help people find jobs.
Universal broadband Obama plan has invested huge sums of money in broadband services to increase public Internet access.
He believes that the US broadband penetration rate is fifteenth in the world, which is "unacceptable".
According to this plan, popularizing broadband from "doll", "every child should have the opportunity to access the Internet. This is our way to improve the competitiveness of the United States".
Obama said that the new government will carry out the modernization and upgrading of the largest campus facilities in history, "repair the damaged school facilities, make them more energy efficient, and install new computers in the classroom".
According to his statement, to enhance children's competitiveness in the future, they will send them to school in twenty-first Century.
Obama also talked about upgrading hospital facilities, "ensuring that hospitals are connected to each other" and "ensuring that every doctor office and hospital in the country uses the most advanced technology and electronic archives".
In his view, this measure can not only curb bureaucracy and avoid medical mistakes, but also save us $one billion a year.
Obama did not disclose the total amount of investment in his speech, but his aides and some Democratic members estimated that the total amount would be about 700 billion dollars.
Some economists even expect investment totalled up to trillions of dollars.
The US Losangeles Times reported that the plan reflects the growing conviction of senior advisors and Democratic congressmen of Obama that the government must invest heavily in order to resolve the economic crisis and solve the employment problem.
The Washington Post is projected by the plan content that this investment will create the highest record of the federal government's investment in the economy, which will inevitably arouse public controversy over whether the money is properly spent.
"We will not take the old road in Washington and not spend money simply to solve the immediate problem," Obama said. The new government plans to use this investment to solve the economic crisis and reform at the same time, so as to increase employment, save energy and enhance the competitiveness of the United States.
The US political weekly commented that Obama tried to stimulate the economy and increase employment opportunities to achieve his core reform initiatives in education, energy and medical care during his election campaign. His economic plan can be called "the new version of Roosevelt's New Deal".
