Oeko-Tex international environmental protection textile association secretary general and TESTEX chief operating director Dr. Jean-Pierre Haug, from the perspective of textile production supply chain, Oeko-Tex International Environmental Protection Textile Association will enhance the eco friendly certification work for textile products to pay more attention to the sustainable development level of the whole enterprise: Sustainable Textile production certification (STeP) will be the long-term development direction of the association's future work.

As the most complete system in the textile supply chain, STeP certification carries out a comprehensive evaluation of the 6 aspects of the enterprise's quality management, environmental management, social responsibility, health and safety, environmental protection and chemical management. Through the evaluation of the above 6 indicators, enterprise improvement, feedback and reassessment, it helps enterprises improve the indicators of green low-carbon textile production and reduce energy consumption as a whole, so as to achieve continuous improvement of the comprehensive level.

"Because the STeP authentication system is very complex, it aims at the enterprise's production and operation requirements of a very comprehensive and strict evaluation system. According to statistics, in 2013, Oeko-Tex International Environmental Protection Textile Association issued 12555 Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificates worldwide, an increase of 6.3% over the same period last year.

From the geographical location of the certificate, manufacturers from Asian regions play an important role. 59.7% of the certificates are obtained from Asia, while Europe accounts for 37.2%.

The number of enterprises with the largest number of certificates was China (21.3%), followed by Germany (12.3%), Turkey (8%), India (6.6%), Bangladesh (6.2%) and Italy (5.5%).

If we have the experience of the former, the promotion of Oeko-Tex certification will be much easier. This will also lay a good foundation for the future STeP certification.

The initial reason for the company to apply for Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification is also our request from European customers. But after participating in the whole process of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification system, we feel that we have achieved a comprehensive improvement in product quality control, product stability and so on, and have played a good role in promoting the growth of domestic demand orders.

This view has been corroborated in the survey results.

Data show that 88.7% of the participating enterprises believe that Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification helps enterprises to enhance their competitiveness in the market, 81.4% of enterprises believe that it contributes to business growth, and 78.4% of enterprises believe that it helps to improve product quality.

In addition, the number of enterprises that enhance corporate social efficiency, enhance management level and increase profits accounted for 66.7%, 48.5% and 42.4% of the total number of survey enterprises respectively.

In order to achieve this standard, we have tested and applied for certification according to the existing products according to the different dye varieties. Our annual certification cost is about 1 million yuan, and specially added ion chromatography detection equipment.

Today, there are 86 dye products on the ground to reach the Oeko-Tex's most stringent infant standard.
