WAL-MART Plans To Open 30 New Stores In China This Year.

Last October, Wal-Mart Announced that it will accelerate its development in China. In the next 2014-2016 years, 110 new sites will be set up, including shopping centres and distribution centers, which will create more than 19000 jobs. This year's new stores will include WAL-MART shopping plaza and Sam member store. Among them, shopping plaza will continue to develop in Shanghai, Jilin, Changchun, Hubei Wuhan, Hunan Changsha, Sichuan Chengdu, Guangxi Guangxi and other second-tier cities, and will also be located in three or four tier cities such as Chengdu, China, Hong Kong, China, Hubei, China, and so on, so as to better serve the emerging consumer groups in the process of urbanization in China.
In 2014, there were 2 Sam member stores planned by WAL-MART, located in Wuhan, Hubei and Changzhou, Jiangsu. Ke Junxian said that the warehouse type supermarket Sam member store has broad prospects for development in China, and is especially suitable for fast growing middle and high income consumers. In addition to new shopping malls, WAL-MART plans to invest 580 million yuan this year, through a strong store upgrade plan to transform more than 55 existing stores. In 2012 and 2013, WAL-MART transformed 31 and 45 old stores respectively, and this year will further speed up the transformation of stores. The transformation of existing stores includes the adoption of more rational commodity layout to improve the moving line, upgrade equipment, upgrade parking, traffic conditions, increase energy efficiency and environmental protection equipment for sustainable development, and reduce energy consumption. The purpose of all these measures is to enhance customers' shopping experience and business performance.

As of April 30, 2014, WAL-MART opened more than 400 shopping malls in China, creating about 90 thousand job opportunities. Since October 2012, WAL-MART has taken a number of initiatives to upgrade its business base.
