Huajian employs 3500 employees in Ethiopia and produces two million pairs of shoes every year. Zhang Huarong said that with the improvement of workers' technology, efficiency will gradually increase. At present, Ethiopia's productivity is only 1/3 of Chinese factories.

The rising cost of labor in China has made Zhang Huarong realize that increasing the capacity of Ethiopia is inevitable. Zhang Huarong expects that the number of employees in Huajian Ethiopia plant will reach 50 thousand in 8 years.

H&M, the second largest clothing manufacturer in Europe, has already started working with suppliers in Ethiopia. Helma Helmersson, director of sustainable development at H&M, said:
