More Than 1000 Entries Compete For The Eighth Hongkong Shoe Design Competition.

The eighth Hongkong footwear design competition was held today. The competition is divided into individual and business groups. It attracts more than one thousand and one hundred entries. The winning works are displayed in a meticulous and ingenious design. Deng Yao, chairman of the Hongkong Footwear Association and chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the games, said today at the awards ceremony that the entries this year showed excellent design level. He pointed out that talents and creativity are the key to the success of the footwear industry in Hongkong. We hope that through the competition, we can find new talents for the industry, so as to enhance the level of design and creation of shoes in Hongkong. In the personal group, there are seven groups, including children's wear, sports, men's wear, women's wear boots, women's wear sandals, women's wear, and new women's shoes and bags. The establishment of the enterprise group aims to encourage Hongkong manufacturers to develop and design products so as to develop new products with market potential. The judging team selected the winning works with the evaluation criteria of creativity, aesthetics and feasibility. The total value of footwear exports in Hongkong from January to November in 2007 reached US $five billion and four hundred million, and the first three export markets included the United States, Japan and the mainland. Exports to mainland China, Italy and Germany recorded an impressive increase of fifteen percent, sixteen percent and twelve percent respectively.
