Regarding the welfare of fur animals, Zhu Xiaolin, China Representative Office of the International Fur Association, told reporters, "because the feed ingredients of fur animals come mainly from the leftovers of chicken and fish processing plants, a mink can consume about 50 kilograms of such waste throughout life, which is both economical and environmental friendly."

At the end of 2013, the State Forestry Administration, together with the China Leather Association and experts from home and abroad, revised the Interim Regulations on the management of wild fur domestication and utilization technology in China, and 25 experts from domestic and foreign fur animals were involved.

This revision is especially focused on raising the relevant standards of animal breeding environment. After completion, it will shorten the gap between fur industry and international advanced level, and guide the industry to move closer to the international advanced level. The new regulations are expected to be promulgated in the near future.

Sun Wanhong pointed out that "the globalization of China's aquaculture industry needs to respect international laws and actively integrate with international standards, and constantly improve and strengthen the technology and environment of fur animal breeding industry."

"The International Fur Association should play a bridge and link role in promoting the fluency of China's fur animal breeding industry and information at home and abroad, guiding the implementation of standardized fur trading methods, and constantly promoting high standards of aquaculture and ecological environmental protection knowledge."
