Spanish Museum Holds Its First Givenchy Retrospective Exhibition

The first large-scale French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy (Givenchy) Retrospective exhibition Thyssen in Madrid, Spain, in October 22nd. Museum Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy are both loyal customers.

It is commendable that the exhibition was curated by the 87 year old designer himself, displaying 100 of the 50 most successful works of the designer from the museums and private collectors of the world.

"I was hesitant about my age. But I love Spain too much. I can't refuse such an invitation. " He told reporters in a retrospective exhibition report.

The exhibition focuses on his works designed for celebrities at different times and museum collections of different styles to highlight the relationship between fashion (micro-blog) and art.

"He is the last master of advanced customization." Thyssen Museum Art director Guillermo Solano said.

Among the exhibited designs, there was a little black dress designed by Hepburn in 1961 for Tiffany's breakfast, and the black lace cocktail skirt and jacket worn in 1966's "stealing dragon to Phoenix".

Givenchy, who retired in 1995, designed clothes for Hepburn's most famous films, and she was a lifelong friend.

"Audrey is so special. She is my closest friend. " He also praised the old British actress who was "elegant, generous, beautiful and gifted."

"For me, business between us is continuous and mutually beneficial. It's amazing. " He said. "I think advanced customization is over. The last miracle designer Yves Saint-Laurent (died in 2008) completely terminated the golden age of advanced customization. The Givenchy brand is currently owned by LVMH, a luxury group in France.

The retrospective will last until January 18, 2015.
