Last year, China's textile industry clothing Total exports amounted to US $298 billion 420 million, an increase of 5.1% over the same period last year. China's textile and clothing exports still rank first in the world, but export growth has slowed down and entered the middle and low speed growth stage. In addition, China's market share in traditional markets such as the European Union, the United States and Japan is slowly declining. According to the McKinsey survey, 72% of the world's brands intend to transfer some of the textile and apparel orders in China, while most of the destinations for transfer are ASEAN countries. This is the information recently obtained by reporters from China and Asia Textile International Forum, which just concluded in 2015.

ASEAN manufacturing industry enters a period of rapid growth

In recent years, the rapid development of garment processing industry in ASEAN countries has attracted worldwide attention. China's share of products in traditional markets in Europe, the US and Japan has decreased, while ASEAN's share in these major international markets has increased. At the opening ceremony of the forum, Jiang Hui, President of the China Textiles Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, said that the labor cost of China has reached 2.5 to 5 times that of ASEAN countries, and the transfer is the trend of development in the future.

Facing the European and American markets, China's competition with ASEAN countries, especially Vietnam, remains fierce. Julia Hughes, President of the American fashion industry association, said: China is still the most important supplier of the textile and garment industry in the United States, but Vietnam's share in the US market continues to grow. Since 2013, Vietnam has become the second largest apparel supplier in the United States and the fourth largest supplier of fabric.

At the same time, competition from Burma can not be underestimated. Myint Soe, President of Burma Garment Manufacturers Association, said that the scale of Burma's garment industry has increased 1 times in 3 years. Japan and Korea have been Burma's main export markets before, but in 2014, Burma's market share in the EU also rose sharply.

Europe Textile and clothing Federation director Francesco MARCHI also said that not only Kampuchea, Bangladesh exports clothing to Europe is also gradually increasing. Industrial transfer is an irreversible fact. For this reason, Ruan Wenjun, executive vice chairman of Vietnam cotton and Spinning Association, said that the former textile industry was transferred from Europe to Japan to China. Now it has been transferred from China to Southeast Asian countries. This is changing with the development of the times and the needs of the industry. The fluctuation of RMB exchange rate, the increase of labor costs and the pressure of environmental protection have prompted China to relocate the textile export business in the world and find new advantages.

      Demand brings cooperation power

At the same time of competition, bilateral trade between China and ASEAN is also increasing. Since the establishment of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area, China's export to ASEAN has been growing at an average annual rate of over 30%. In 2013, ASEAN first surpassed Japan to become the third largest trading partner of China. At present, ASEAN is China's largest yarn export market and the largest. Fabric Export market.

What prompted the rapid growth of trade between China and ASEAN in the field of textiles? It can be said that this is closely related to the rise of ASEAN garment processing industry. With ASEAN's growing share of global textile exports, ASEAN has generated enormous demand for yarn and fabrics. And because of its incomplete industrial chain, many ASEAN countries can not be self-sufficient in textile materials, so they choose to import from China.

In the face of global market, Asian textile is a whole. Ruan Wenjun said: the global textile and apparel supply chain is gradually shifting to Asia. By 2030, Asia's total textile and clothing will account for more than 60% of the world's total. Julia Hughes also said that 59% of the US textile industry benchmarks hoped to increase procurement volume from Asia as a whole. When asked if European customers are more likely to purchase from China or ASEAN, Francesco MARCHI said: Europe is the largest clothing consumer market in the world, with different levels of buyers. They will choose the place of purchase according to their own needs. On the whole, Asian clothing occupies a large share in the global market, and Asian countries have close ties in the industrial chain. For Asian countries, cooperation is far more competitive than competition.

In this regard, Jiang said that each country has its own industrial characteristics, and that the relationship between China and ASEAN countries will become more complementary to each other and even to the global industry from competition to complementarity. Chinese enterprises can make full use of the advantages of Southeast Asian countries to achieve win-win results by going out and making full use of the advantages of Southeast Asian countries.
