SOLS Will Expand Printing Business To Shoe Customization Technology Everywhere.

    For our sake

    Basic necessities of life,

Technology companies are also breaking their hearts.

For example, SOLS, a start-up company in New York, feels that it is really too much trouble for people to buy shoes and try them on. Then we can print out a pair of shoes for you directly.

Kegan Schouwenburg, the founder of SOLS, has its own shoe factory management experience and 3D printing expertise.

In July 2013, she and Joel Wishkovsky (COO) founded SOLS.

At first, the New York based technology company is dedicated to printing personalized insoles for users using 3D technology.

Although it sounds great, the whole process is very simple: you only need to take photos of your feet from three different angles (using ordinary smart phones to take photos), and upload them to the computer. The software will set up the 3D model according to the photos, and print out the insoles that fully fit your real foot type.

Every week, SOLS produces hundreds of such insoles for customers.

Today, SOLS decides to expand the printing business to the customization of shoes.

As MS. Kegan Schouwenburg said, what she wants to create is a more convenient way of life, "scan the real world with software, digitize it, and then make a one size fits all" perfect product "for you.

Schouwengurg believes that 3D printing technology will become an important part of future customized shoes. "But it also needs to integrate with injection molding, rapid manufacturing, customized processing and other technologies."

They have announced a 3D print shoe model called Adaptive.

    According to Tiangong News Agency

This model is displayed in the February 14, 2015 FAST-AW15 NBA all star weekend interactive exhibition.

ADAPTIV is quite different from our common shoes.

This concept product uses a gyroscope and pressure sensor system in its 3D shell print custom shell.

Therefore, ADAPTIV can be said to be an "intelligent" shoe that monitors the movements of its users and changes the pressure distribution inside the shoe accordingly to support the feet, ankles and other parts of the user's body.

For athletes, these shoes can help them improve their physical activities and improve their athletic performance through their adaptability.

In order to achieve large-scale production as soon as possible, SOLS is working with EOS, a German printing company 3D, to build a large 3D printing plant in Texas.

The factory will be able to produce 10000 insoles a day.

Their goal is to upload photos to users in the future. They can accept orders and distribute them to assembly lines and workshops for production and processing.

What does this custom shoe look like? According to the effect picture, whether it looks good or not is different.

Leather is outside the shoes, but the leather is implanted with motion sensors, while the ankle area will be equipped with a 3D silicone air bag which can be changed by inflating and deflating.

What is even more impressive is that the shoes are equipped with color sensing cameras and RGB LED, which can change the colors according to the wearer's clothing.

Although the market is very small in terms of printing insoles or shoes, SOLS has been recognized by the capital market.

In January and April last year, SOLS obtained $1 million 750 thousand angel financing from Lux Capital and $6 million 400 thousand A investment jointly invested by RRE Ventures and others.

According to Recode, recently, Sols has won another $11 million 100 thousand in financing. Investors include former investment institutions Founders Fund, Lux Capital, and the new Tenaya Capital and Melo7 Tech Partners.

What is interesting is that some of Melo7's funds come from the NBA player "melon" Cameron Anthony; the general manager of Dallas Mavericks, Terdema Ussery, has also announced its accession to the SOLS board.

The first company that started in the medical field seemed to want to borrow it.

    NBA

The name goes into the sports market.
