Martin Ashby, Smartlife's smart clothing technology operator, said in today's (2015) mid March wear technology exhibition held in London, England, although wearable technology has been applied to professional sports apparel, it is important to pform these data information into reference information for everyday sports enthusiasts.
"Technology can't replace all trainers and doctors," says Markus Strecker, executive director of technology brand Teiimo and founder, adding that technology can help people who want to improve health (such as weight management and health issues).
However, the biggest obstacle to the acceptance of mass market lies in the simple issue of washing garments.
At the conference on wearable technology, experts are faced with how to clean such garments and how long it is possible for them to go through washing resistant standards without removing any wearable devices.
The most important problem is the battery, which is understandable.
According to Simon Weatherall, founder of Glofaster, a wearable technology company, it is possible to use good coating methods to achieve circuit waterproofing, but it is not cost-effective.
Ambiotex launched the smart shirt for measuring bio data, and its CEO Thomas Claussen agrees that battery improvement is the key to future development.
Claussen said during the meeting: "I predict that in 2 or 3 years, the battery loading box and the electronic itself will disappear.
The smaller the battery, the smaller the outer box is, because the size depends on the battery, not the electronic device.
Ashby added that the electronic equipment of Smartlife clothing integrated IP6, and the challenge faced by experts is not water itself, but temperature.
When designing and developing wearable garments for commercial use, products must pass 50-60 washing tests, but when clothing is washed and rotated at 90 degrees of temperature and 1000 times per minute, this is not a "general usage".
Ashby thinks that the equipment is more durable.
Smartlife technology leader Ben McCarthy predicts: "there will be some related tests and prospects in the market".
McCarthy said that other companies, like Smartlife, "we have developed some products and tested them, and are feasible. We also spend money trying and hoping to produce a lot, but this process is very complicated and costs a lot of effort."
McCarthy added: "now there are many fitness knowledge about how to train yourself, improve the state of motion and improve heart rate, but most people do not know how to use it.
If you tell me how much my heart rate is, I don't know what it means.
We need to make this situation simple and easy to understand.
"Consumers are not interested in details of heart rate," McCarthy said. "They are interested in how to change what they do to further improve the status quo and whether the product is washable.
In order to enter the mass market, enterprises need to work hard to develop what kind of wearable technology and so on.
More and more athletes use the clothing of pducers and biological detection tools to measure their athletic performance.
However, despite the fact that the garment industry is using and manufacturing induction and testing clothing for the sake of the mass market, the biggest challenge is garment washing.
