Introduction:

The total export volume of clothing in Burma today (2014) is expected to reach US $1 billion 800 million, much larger than that in 2001.

Gap Inc., the clothing chain store in the United States, announced in June that it would import clothing from the Burma plant, which means that the garments labeled "Burma made" will be on the shelves in the United States.

In terms of Burma's political and economic reforms, low cost advantages, normalization of relations with the United States, the European Union and other places in Vietnam and Kampuchea, it will create greater synergy and create more investment portfolios.

It is understood that many countries such as South Korea and Japan show great enthusiasm for the country and layout Burma as a beachhead.

The development of Burma's textile industry has been more than 200 years ago. In 1988, the market economy was implemented, attracting foreign investment and opening to foreign suppliers for processing.

Enterprises are mainly divided into sole proprietorship, joint ventures and private enterprises. The ratio of foreign investment to local factories is 1:50. Local factories mainly produce cloth, including shuttle weaving and military uniform. Joint ventures are mainly exported, while local markets are also developed to earn Burma (Kyat) to pay local workers.

In recent years, investment in mainland China has increased continuously, with a total of more than 14 billion US dollars. Under the ASEAN agreement, the import of textiles from mainland China, Korea and Japan can be reduced or exempted from customs duties.

It is understood that Burma textile and clothing exports, in 2003 the United States sanctions against Burma trade before the main market is the United States and the European Union, such as exports in 2000, the United States and the European Union accounted for 54.1%, 34.6%, that is, the two share nearly 90% of the proportion.

In 2010, exports of Burma textiles and garments accounted for 32%, 31% of the European Union, 22% of South Korea, and 85% of the three.
