Global Woolen Industry Is Mixed

The eighty-fourth International Wool Textile Conference, organized by the International Wool Textile Organization (IWTO) and the China Wool Textile Industry Association (CWTA), was held in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu.

The production decreased by 0.3%; in 2014/15, global wool production continued to decrease by 0.3%, of which Australia, China, Argentina, India, the United Kingdom and Mongolia increased in wool production, New Zealand,

Uruguay's wool production has been reduced; the purpose of raising sheep has been tilted towards the dual use of meat and meat; other agricultural activities have been competing for the sheep industry; the production of super fine wool (18.5 micron fine) is decreasing.

It is estimated that the global wool production will continue to decrease slightly in 2015/16, the gross woolen clothing will be reduced, and the gross wool will be increased.

On the export side, 2014/15, the world's five largest producer of wool:

Exports grew by 5%, New Zealand increased by 3%, Argentina increased by 7%, South Africa increased by 0.3%, and Uruguay by 6%.

The survey results showed that 2014 was a very difficult year for the field of wool production and clothing, while the knitting and interior decoration fields were very successful; there were signs of recovery in the field of spinning and weaving; the inventory in the field of wool, yarn and weaving was decreasing, and the stock in clothing collar area began to increase.

It is estimated that in the next 6 months, the production of wool tops and clothing production will be improved.

In the processing country's survey of wool purchases, the survey showed that in the end of fiscal year March, China's purchase of wool increased by 9% compared with the previous year. In India, Czech, Germany, and other European countries, especially in the United Kingdom, the purchase of wool was reduced, and the purchase of wool in Malaysia, Thailand and Egypt increased.

In terms of the trend of international wool prices, ChrisWilcox said that in the past 12 months, the price of wool has increased in the currency of wool producing countries, while the price of wool in US dollars has declined. This is because the appreciation of the US dollar has resulted in a significant depreciation of the currency of the major wool producing countries; the price of hybrid wool and coarse wool has been rising; the price of the beautiful wool has created a new high; the price of superfine wool continues to be weak; the price of cotton and chemical fiber has a downward trend.
