What Should We Do With The Old Clothes That Are Not Worn Out? Throw Them Away Or Give Them Away?

As the old saying goes, in the past three years, the old three years, sewing and patch up for three years, this is the past.

    clothes

    Attitude.

But today, with the development of the economy, we are all rich. How should we deal with the old clothes that we do not wear? Throw away or give them away? Or what should we do? Recently, the reporter launched a series of investigations on this issue in Xi'an.

In different parts of Xi'an, journalists interviewed people of different ages, and their attitudes towards old clothes were obviously different.

The people of Xi'an: "we just change what we want, continue to use it, and we are not willing to throw it anyway."

The citizens of Xi'an: "give the children in the countryside over there, or to relatives."

Citizens of Xi'an: "take them home and wear them for your family."

Citizens of Xi'an: "some clothes are bought and worn, but they do not bother to retreat, and then they will always be there."

Xi'an residents: "there are so many clothes. I don't know what to do."

    Reporter: "to what extent?"

The people of Xi'an: "if they simply can't stop, they can't get rid of it, give them away, or they will be thrown away."

In the interview, reporters found that although they did not want to wear it again, many people thought it was too bad to throw away a good cloth.

But the problems they encounter are either no one to send, or they do not know where to deliver.

Influenced by some other cities throughout the country, some individuals and groups began to set up "Love Wardrobe" and "love wall" in Xi'an.

Yang Lei, an accountant training institution in Xi'an, said: "there are many people who donate. We will also worry about the accumulation of clothes. The requirement for people to come to donate clothes is that they have to be cleaned before they can be taken. If it gets dirty after that, we will directly filter it out."

But this "Love Wardrobe" and "love wall" are relatively small in scale, basically targeting only a small number of needs in urban areas.

This is different from the needs of most of the people who should be donated to remote areas.

In April 20th, reporters found a volunteer organization called Chen Xushui volunteers in the southern suburb of Xi'an.

Their leader, Wang Xiaojin, is writing the addressee address to the old clothes bag that has been packed and packed.

Wang Xiaojin told reporters that since 2011, they have sent the old clothes donated by people to the people in need, through logistics and mail, most of them sent to Sichuan and Tibet.

At the same time, they will also help the local and local needs groups in Xi'an.

Chen Xushui volunteer service leader Wang Xiaojin: "our current difficulty is that our donation points are too few. Many people who come to pick up clothes are very inconvenient to do so. There is no way to get enough publicity. The number of volunteers is too small."

Reporter: "how many bags can I send at most once?"

Chen Xushui, the head of the volunteer service team, Wang Xiaojin: "twenty bags or so, it will be shipped in several places simultaneously."

Wang Xiaojin said that most of the old clothes they received were sent to people in need, and only a few could not be sent to the relevant recycling enterprises for reprocessing.

As a volunteer organization, their logistics cost has been paid by volunteers themselves so far.

Because there is no special funds, they can only ask donors to wash their old clothes and send them again, because they really can not do their own disinfection and cleaning.

Outside the love organization and individuals, reporters found that some enterprises also joined the ranks of old clothes recycling.

In the window of a clothing brand store in Xi'an, a "world clothing recycling week" is being held.

The store says customers who provide old clothes will send discount cards.

Brand China public relations Project Manager Zhou Weiwei: "mainly

We all recycle clothes, we will regularly, basically every month, the stores in the world will take the clothes back to I:CO's factory in Germany.

Zhou Weiwei told reporters that they would divide the clothes received into four categories: re dressing, recycling, recycling and producing energy according to the quality of clothes and the degree of wear.

Up to now, they have collected more than 1100 tons of old clothes in China.

    Where are the old clothes?

Reporters learned that about about 20000000 tons of old clothes were thrown into the garbage bin every year in China, and about 180 thousand tons of old clothes in Xi'an turned into domestic waste.

Now chemical fiber products account for 60% to 70% of the garments, and chemical fiber can not be degraded after being used as landfill.

In other words, if the old clothes can be donated and reused, it will be more green. But is there really such a large demand after a lot of old clothes are donated?

In 2014, with the encouragement of the government's policy, the Shaanxi Charity Association launched the Shaanxi Charity Supermarket Development Center. An important task of the center is to collect the old clothes donated by the enthusiastic people.

In June 2015, the Shaanxi Charity Association began collecting and recycling more than 920 tons of old clothes and old textiles in the past six months.

Chang Xiuzhen, deputy director of the Shaanxi Charity Supermarket Development Center, said: "with the improvement of living standards, the number of people who need (clothes) to spend two times is greatly reduced, and second things you donate do not necessarily have specific objects."

Reporter: "how much can I donate in general?"

Chang Xiuzhen, deputy director of Shaanxi Charity Supermarket Development Center: "this ratio is not too high."

    Interviewer: "1%?"

Chang Xiuzhen, deputy director of Shaanxi Charity Supermarket Development Center: "this is almost the same."

In 2015, the Shaanxi Charity Supermarket Development Center raised funds to set up Shaanxi Ai Wei Bao Recycling Co. Ltd., renting warehouses in the eastern suburbs of Xi'an, collecting old clothes donated by charitable associations and other organizations in all parts of the province, sorting and screening them, in addition to donating them to the needs of the group, others compressing and packing them, and sending them to factories in Sanyuan County, Xianyang city to decompose and utilize them.

Starting in March this year, they put in nearly 200 old clothes recycling bins in some large community and university campuses in Xi'an, collecting all the old clothes.

Every day, two special buses go to each district to collect old clothes filled.

    But such work involves cost.

Cai Furong, deputy general manager of Shaanxi province Ai Wei Bao Recycling Co., Ltd.: "the capital investment in the early stage was invested by the charitable Association. In the last year, there are still some constructions in our operation process. According to our current operation, if our processing and recycling can reach 200 tons per month, we will enter the break even point."

Chang Xiuzhen, deputy director of the Shaanxi Charity Supermarket Development Center, told reporters that at present, the source of the operation of their old clothes recycling project is mainly to cooperate with some enterprises and run through their sponsorship.

In the future, they hope to set up recycling boxes in Xi'an and other cities throughout the province, and gradually bring old clothes into a virtuous cycle of reuse.

Chen Wucheng, director of textile experimental center of Shaanxi Fiber Inspection Bureau, said: "because chemical fiber products now account for 60% to 70% of clothing.

But chemical fiber mainly comes from petroleum, coal and natural gas.

As a landfill, it can't be degraded. "

Chen believes that the recycling of old clothes needs the encouragement and support of national policies.

Chen Wucheng, director of the textile experimental center of Shaanxi Fiber Inspection Bureau, said: "it is a little higher than the cost of the new fibers to reclassify the waste clothes and beating them. The cost is higher than the cost of the new fibers. If it is high, it lacks competitiveness in the market. Our country has no incentive mechanism to get no benefit in the recycled fibers. If the business is for profit, no one will do it. If the recycled fiber is used, the state should be encouraged and subsidized."
