The European Parliament passed a resolution overwhelmingly, refusing to recognize China.

Economic status and criticize China's over production and price cutting exports, which will bring serious social, economic and environmental consequences to the EU.

BBC5 reported on 12 April that in 751 European Parliament members, 546 European Parliamentarians endorsed the motion against China's automatic market economic status under the WTO.

The resolution said that the EU needs to continue to take China as a special case until China meets the 5 principles of market economy status put forward by the EU before considering it.

The resolution stressed that 56 of the EU's 73 anti-dumping measures were targeted at China's imports.

Members who support the resolution say China needs economic reform, including reducing state intervention in commerce.

China said that the country's accession to the WTO was 15th anniversary in December this year, and it should automatically gain market economy status.

There was debate within the EU.

Although the resolution of the European Parliament is not legally binding, if the European Commission wants to recognize China's market economy status, it needs the approval of the European Parliament.

Once China obtains the "market economy status" under the WTO framework, it will be difficult for the EU to sue anti-dumping cases against China in the future.

China is the second largest trading partner of the European Union.

The amount exceeds 1 billion euros.

But there are objections that China's overcapacity in steel and cheap exports to Europe, such as the impact of cheap steel exports on the UK's entire steel industry, threaten jobs for tens of thousands of people.

China's excessive production and price cut exports have serious social, economic and environmental consequences for the European Union.
