Pi n ATEX was born.

This material made from Pineapple leaves is probably the long-awaited omnipotent green leather.

Pi n ATEX, or "leather leather", is the invention of Dr. Carmen and Dr. Ananas and Anam, a material innovation company.

In 90s, Dr. erzhux worked as a consultant in Philippines's product development and design center.

At that time, she noticed the properties of pineapple leaf fibers and began to work hard to create sustainable leather alternatives and oil based fabrics.

After years of research, Ananas Anam has finally built a successful animal leather substitute.

Recently, the company has demonstrated the versatile nature of Pi ATEX in Royal College of Art, London.

The raw material of this new leather is the adhesive fiber extracted from Pineapple leaves.

Fiber extraction was done by farmers in the plantations before chopping and Pineapple leaves.

Then, these fibers need a series of industrial processes to produce revolutionary Pi n ATEX.

After that, the canvas like material can be dyed and printed, and different textures can be obtained through different treatments.

The organic by-products in the process of production can be recycled by farmers and serve as fertilizer for plantations.

It takes 480 slices of Pineapple leaves to produce medium thickness Pi n ATEX in a square meter.

That may sound a lot, but in fact, 16 pineapples can grow so many leaves.

Moreover, if these leaves are not used to produce materials, after the pineapple harvest, they can only rot in the ground.

Pi n ATEX is still in the research stage.

At present, people are trying to use the non biodegradable protective layer to prolong their service life.

However, Ananas Anam is studying natural alternatives, and hopes that this material will be completely biodegradable soon.

Dr. Yi Zhuo Sha admitted that it was still some time before the leather leather was listed. However, Puma and campers and other brands have used Pi ATEX to create some sample shoes, and the product's response is very good.

As for the performance of Pi n ATEX products in actual use, it remains to be seen.
