    Interview with Professor Ren Jiazhi, director of the combing engineering technology research center of Zhongyuan University of Technology

    The first combing technology seminar was successfully opened at Zhongyuan University of Technology.

    How to meet the requirements of high speed, intelligence and energy saving has been interviewed by Zhongyuan University of Technology professor and director of combing engineering technology research center.

    The popularity of combed products is obvious.

    Reporter: in recent years, the proportion of combed yarn to yarn production has increased year by year. Why does this happen?

    Ren Jiazhi: on the one hand, with the improvement of living standards, people are right.

    On the other hand, it is inseparable from the task of combing process.

    Major tasks: first, to exclude short fibers, which can eliminate the 40%~50% short fiber of the birth treaty, thereby improving the length and uniformity of the fibers; two, it is possible to exclude impurities in the sliver, 10%~20% neps; three, make the fibers straight, parallel and separated in the sliver, and the fiber elongation in the carding sliver is only about 50%; the combing process can raise the fiber straightness to 85%~95%, which is conducive to improving yarn evenness, strength and luster; four, it is homogeneous, mixed and striped, for example, the weight irregularity of the carding sliver is about 2%~4% (the weight unevenness of the sliver 5 meters), and the weight unevenness of the combed sliver is only 0.5%~2%.     Reporter: what challenges have combing technology faced before?

    Ren Jiazhi: in recent years, the trend of popularization of combed products is increasingly obvious.

    First of all, major changes have taken place in the raw material structure of cotton spinning.

    In 2010, the amount of cotton used in China was 6 million 360 thousand tons, and the amount of chemical fiber was 8 million 430 thousand tons. In 2015, the amount of cotton used in China was 6 million 570 thousand tons, and the amount of chemical fiber was 12 million 600 thousand tons.

    From 2010 to 2015, the proportion of chemical fiber increased year by year.

    At the same time, from 2011 to ~2015, the application of machine picked cotton has gradually expanded. It is estimated that the area of machine picked cotton will account for more than 90% of the total sown area in 2016.

    In addition, the trend of coarse yarn branching and cotton grading is obvious.

    Combed yarn extended to grade three cotton, grade four cotton and other low grade raw cotton, cotton grade decreased, combed fiber length shortened, sometimes only 22 millimeters.

    The average yarn of combed yarn also changed from 32 in 2005 to 24 in 2015.

    All of these pose a great challenge to combing technology.

    Combing machine oriented functional differentiation

    Reporter: what are the improvements to combing technology in response to these challenges?

    Ren Jiazhi: facing these challenges, combing technology is also developing and improving.

    In December 2015, Zhongyuan University of Technology signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Jiangsu Kay Gong machinery Limited by Share Ltd, a domestic comber maker.

    In accordance with this agreement, the two sides will work together on R & D of intelligent comber and functional differential comber.

    Among them, the functional differential comber is aimed at the current number of chemical fiber, machine picked cotton, linen and so on.

    For example, the chemical fiber comber is developed for the production of chemical fiber yarns.

    Chemical fiber has no impurity and neps because of its good regularity.

    Our research found that manufacturers of high-end chemical fiber yarns require very high yarn quality and cloth face style. At present, the level of chemical fiber yarns in China can not be satisfied.

    Through combing, not only can improve the fiber's straightness, parallelism and separation, reduce the silk and residual impurities, but also improve the evenness of the yarn, and improve the handle and style of the fabric.

    The development of chemical comber involves the development of the combing and separating driving mechanism, the optimization of separation and combination of parameters, the development of carding special parts, and the optimization of the combing and drawing process.

    Another functional differential comber is a cotton picking comber.

    There is a great difference between machine picked cotton and artificial cotton picking. The process flow of machine picked cotton is long, and there are more neps, impurities, fiber seed chips and soft seed skins.

    The defect (fiber seed chip) is more than 3 times higher than that of manual picking, and is difficult to remove on carding machine.

    Combing method can solve the difficult to remove carding fiber seed chips, impurities and neps, improve fiber uniformity.

    The key technologies related to combing include the reasonable division of carding, combed noil and impurity removal, the design and development of combed cotton technology and combing cylinder.

    In addition, cotton and hemp combing technology is also available.

    Cotton and ramie blended yarns are usually short hemp, and the blended ratio of hemp is 30%~50%.

    Because of the difficulty of netting hemp fibers, cotton blending is usually used.

    The combing process can effectively eliminate short fibers, neps and impurities, improve the fiber's straightness, parallelism and separation degree, so as to improve the spinning ability and produce high-grade cotton and linen fabrics.

    The key technology involved is how to solve the difference of the percentage of droppings in the two kinds of blended fibers.

    High speed, intelligence and energy saving are the direction of development.

    Reporter: with the continuous improvement of labor and energy costs, what is the upgrading of Combing Equipment in terms of intelligence, energy saving and consumption reduction?

    Ren Jia Zhi: high speed, high efficiency, energy saving and intelligence are the trend of comber development.

    Automatic pportation, automatic roll up, automatic lap joint, automatic optimization of process parameters, intelligent detection and automatic control of combing strip quality are effective ways to reduce labor.

    The intelligent comber system of Zhongyuan University of Technology and Kay palace will be exhibited at the 2016 China International Textile Machinery Exhibition and ITMA Asia Exhibition in October this year.

    The system can automatically pfer the small volume to the comber according to the demand and matching of the comber and strip coiler output, and complete automatic roll changing and automatic generating.

    It realizes the automatic continuous production and combing machine's pportation, so as to achieve the automation needs.

    In order to save energy and reduce consumption of combing technology, optimization method can be used to reduce the acceleration and the weight of the moving parts of the comber. It can not only save energy, reduce noise, but also reduce the vibration of the machine, which is an effective way to improve the stability of the machine.

    Reporter: where do you think the gap between the domestic combing machine and the advanced foreign models?

    Ren Jia Zhi: the design concept of domestic comber is very advanced. We will design functional combing machine according to different fiber materials, and only cotton comber is produced abroad.

    However, we must realize that the basic materials abroad are very advanced. In this respect, the domestic gap is very large. A comber is made up of thousands of components.

    Such as the engine, the technical level has already achieved a breakthrough, but the service life is far less than foreign products, that is, the material is out of line.

    In addition, there is a big gap between the quality of workers and the accuracy of assembly in China.

    Domestic comber must solve these problems if we want to catch up with foreign products.
