The leading representatives, representatives of government departments and many UL customers of the Institute of textile inspection and other related agencies attended the hot topics of brand management in the global market, including compliance requirements, sustainable development and supply chain social responsibility. At the same time, they shared professional opinions and future measures on anti counterfeiting activities.
UL worked closely with government departments and international organizations to vigorously promote anti counterfeiting operations.
Luxury goods are favored by consumers for their unique, scarce and rare characteristics. They are the enrichment of brand history, excellent quality and exquisite craft.
But the problem of counterfeiting has been banned for many times, and has long plagued consumers and international luxury brands.
In order to protect the interests of consumers, protect the reputation of luxury brands, and crack down on counterfeiting and shoddy behavior, governments and departments pay more attention to it.
"The dangerous products produced by counterfeiting pose risks to the safety of the person and property of consumers. Only Italy loses more than 6 billion euros a year, of which clothing and shoes lose 40 to 5 billion, and more than 60 thousand people lose their jobs."
Brian Monks, vice president of UL global security and brand protection, said: "it also shows that the responsibility of UL to protect the safety of people, products, premises and supply chain is becoming more and more important. We will provide more professional support in other fields on the basis of traditional anti counterfeiting actions, so as to enhance our ability to crack down on intellectual property crimes in public and private organizations."

In the anti counterfeiting operation, the UL international team always protects the UL Series logo from counterfeiting.
On the one hand, UL has worked closely with government departments and law enforcement agencies such as the US Customs and Border Protection Agency, China Customs, Shanghai entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Tianjin market and quality supervision and management commission to support them in many efforts such as product seizure, prosecution and final prosecution.
On the other hand, UL effectively manages intellectual property crime in a strategic way, and locks all levels of the whole supply chain from manufacturers to retailers selling illegal commodities.
In addition, UL has carried out training activities worldwide and popularized the most advanced anti counterfeiting measures aimed at improving the ability of public and private organizations to combat counterfeiting and piracy.
At present, the UL and Interpol certification courses have reached 14, setting up a global standard for the investigation capacity of intellectual property crimes.
To ensure compliance and supply chain sustainability, UL provides professional consultation for brand global recognition.
As the global market is changing, the corresponding market access regulations are constantly being adjusted. Increasingly stringent compliance requirements have become a great challenge for enterprises. Effective management of compliance can not only save time and capital costs, but also reduce the risk of fines, litigation and operational interruption, and effectively protect brand reputation.
At the same time, brand management and supply chain sustainability are becoming more and more important. From raw material procurement to product packaging and pportation, enterprises need to sort out all aspects of the supply chain, and gradually establish an effective responsibility procurement mechanism, thereby avoiding brand image damage.
"Enterprises need to know clearly how their products are made, and ensure that suppliers comply with local laws and international standards, regularly observe suppliers' performance and whether they comply with laws and regulations."
Fred Waelter, director of social responsibility at UL supply chain, said.

"In the past five years, the number of garments imported by China has increased year by year, and the amount of clothing imported last year amounted to US $6 billion 550 million. In order to ensure the quality of clothing, the corresponding technical regulations and mandatory standards have been introduced."
Duan Jiyuan, deputy director of the Shanghai industrial and material inspection and technology center of the Shanghai entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau, said in the speech at the summit, "Shanghai is the largest city with the largest volume of clothing import inspection at all ports in China. Its entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau is responsible for ensuring the quality of textile products such as imported garments. It is also inseparable from the independent and authoritative third party testing and certification institutions such as UL, which provides professional and comprehensive legal advice and technical guidance to the enterprises in terms of product quality, and reduces the unqualified situation to the maximum extent in the early stage, helping enterprises avoid the risk of recall caused by quality problems."

Natale Consonni, vice president of UL consumer products and retail services, said: "for many years, UL has always been closely related to government departments such as Shanghai entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Tianjin market and quality supervision and Management Committee. With the lead and foresight of industry standard setting, global regulations and market change insight, UL can provide professional consultation on brand protection and supply chain links for domestic and foreign brands at the early stage, so that brands can fully understand the operation environment and compliance requirements at the beginning of the target market, so as to prepare for the market and seize the market opportunities."
In recent years, fashion industry has been regarded as one of the most threatening factors of the ecological environment.
More than 2000 different chemicals are used in fashion and textile industries, while consuming large amounts of water and discharging large quantities of waste into the river.
The threat of chemicals to human health and the environment is becoming more and more obvious. Consumers are also gradually aware of the risks.
Anne Bonhoff, head of global chemicals testing at UL consumer products and retail services department, said that the joint action plan for Detox action and hazardous chemicals emissions was designed to eliminate hazardous chemicals in textiles and supply chains in the fashion industry. The target is scheduled for implementation in 2020.
As a value-added service provided by UL, the summit successfully provided participants with opportunities to discuss counterfeiting issues and learn about brand protection solutions, help customers to strengthen their brand protection programs, reduce potential risks, and promote cooperation and interaction between Chinese and overseas government departments and customers.
In the future, UL hopes to promote cooperation and exchanges with international governments and customers through more opportunities. On the one hand, it will help manufacturers, suppliers and international brand customers to ensure that their products meet the requirements of various industries and government regulations. On the other hand, it will continuously expand cooperation with the Interpol and the Shanghai entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau and other institutional departments. It will actively unite all forces to continue to crack down on counterfeiting and piracy and maintain the brand reputation of enterprises. At the same time, it protects the public from the threat of illegal goods that are potentially harmful to UL.
