Jaswinder Beidi, chairman of the International Textile Federation, also explained the investment situation in Kenya at the meeting.

He talked about the US textile and garment market capacity of 100 billion U.S. dollars, the size of China's exports to the United States amounted to about 30000000000 U.S. dollars, accounting for 1/3, but due to Sino US trade friction, China's exports were affected, he pointed out to Chinese enterprises, Kenya exports to Europe and the United States are exempt from customs duties, this is Kenya's advantage.

He took the polyester shirt as an example. In China, a polyester shirt exported to the United States has to pay a 32% tariff, that is, a $3 polyester shirt, to pay a tariff of $1, while in Kenya, the tariff is zero.

He also frankly pointed out that the development of the textile and garment industry in Kenya is short board: because there is no complete industrial chain and raw materials need to be imported, Kenya has a longer cycle in terms of delivery, especially at present.

Under the demand of rapid response, the delivery time of the global market is about 45 days on average, but Kenya needs about 135 days at present, which seriously weakens the competitiveness of Kenya's textile and garment industry. Therefore, he hopes that Chinese enterprises can invest in Kenya and help Kenya's textile and garment industry extend its industrial chain.

Sun Ruizhe, President of China Textile Industry Federation, first expressed his desire to cooperate with Kenya and realize common development. He also hoped that more textile and garment enterprises could invest in Kenya.

Sun Ruizhe expressed his deep sympathy for Kenya's dilemma in the development of its textile and garment industry.

He said: "in fact, China's textile industry is also facing many challenges. First we have to find out two questions: where to go and how to go?"

Speaking of Sino African cooperation, Sun Ruizhe said that China's second round of aid to Africa was $60 billion during the just concluded China Africa Cooperation Forum, which reflected China's responsibility as a great power.

China has the largest textile industry in the world and will do something that has not been done before.

On the one hand, China's textile industry is very important to China, especially playing an important role in safeguarding national economic stability, promoting employment and earning foreign exchange.

"China's textile industry employs more than 20 million people, accounting for 10% of the national manufacturing industry, accounting for 12% of China's total exports, and has a 3% contribution to GDP.

In the past 17 years, the contribution rate of textile and garment industry to China's foreign exchange net income has reached 75%.

But at the moment, China's textile industry is also facing its own problems, such as rising labor costs and environmental pressures.

Sun Ruizhe said that since China proposed the "one belt and one way" initiative 5 years ago, China's textile industry has been in the forefront of the country in its way out.

In terms of "one belt and one road", investment accounts for 7% of the total investment. Countries investing in Africa have countries such as Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia and Kenya.

Speaking of Kenya's investment environment, Sun Ruizhe first affirmed Kenya's support for the development of the textile industry in terms of policies. At the same time, he also pointed out several problems in Kenya's investment:

Kenya is abundant in labor resources, but its support is far from enough. The development of industry is inseparable from the support of skilled skilled workers.

Finally, vertically integrated supply chain.

He said that China's textile industry originated in coastal areas, and gradually formed clusters in the market demand over the past few decades. Until now, a complete industrial chain has been gradually formed. This is not an overnight move, but rather a long time.

For Kenya, the development of garment industry is the most important. Kenya should extend upstream industries such as printing and dyeing, weaving and other upstream industries through ready-made garments.
