Xinjiang Akesu Plans To Grow 7 Million 500 Thousand Mu Of Cotton In 2019

A few days ago, the agriculture and rural Bureau of Akesu District of Xinjiang indicated that in 2019, the cotton planting area in Akesu area was controlled at 7 million 500 thousand mu, which was reduced by 40 mu over the same period last year, and the total output reached 900 thousand tons.

As a cotton growing area in the whole country and Xinjiang autonomous region, Akesu will promote cotton quality and efficiency in 2019 and increase farmers' income.

Cotton is an important economic pillar in Akesu and the main source of farmers' income.

In 2019, the Akesu Regional Committee (enlarged) meeting explicitly proposed that the cotton regional layout and variety structure should be optimized to achieve an area of 2 million mu for machine picked cotton.

To this end, Akesu will optimize the cotton variety structure, determine the main cotton varieties according to the needs of enterprises and market, and designate the dominant cotton producing areas. According to the requirements of each cotton planting county (city) 1~2 main varieties and 2~3 collocation varieties, we should guide cotton farmers to select high-quality cotton varieties that meet the market demand.

We should strengthen the record management of cotton varieties, manage the cotton seed market well and prevent the cotton varieties from becoming more and more complicated.

At the same time, the Akesu region will continue to do a good job in the construction of the "cotton industry alliance", and build 6 regional (city) regional alliances of Sha ya, Awati, Kuche, Xin He, Akesu and Wensu, and guide more textile enterprises, processing enterprises and cooperatives to build the interest community of the cotton industry through the way of "enterprises + cooperatives + farmers".

In 2019, the "cotton industry alliance" demonstration area was 2 million 500 thousand mu, and the quality cotton output was 350 thousand tons.
