Zara Parent Company Inditex Latest Quarterly Sales Growth Steadily
Zara (SA LA)'s parent company, Spain's fast fashion giant Inditex SA (hereinafter referred to as "Inditex") released the key financial data in the first quarter of fiscal year 2019 (as of April 30th): net sales rose 5% to 5 billion 930 million euros, net profit rose 10% to 734 million euros, and net cash position increased 9% to 6 billion 660 million euros.
Pablo Isla, President and chief executive officer of Inditex, said: "excellent financial data demonstrate the stability of the company's business model.
Inditex will continue to promote digital pformation of online and offline sales channels to ensure steady growth in sales.
Online channels and digitalization have always been the focus of Inditex attention.
In March 2018, Inditex opened online shopping platforms in Australia and New Zealand.
In November, the Zara online sales network expanded to 106 new markets, with a total market of 202.
With the development of online business, Inditex in the 2018 fiscal year, the global economy and retail industry downturn, sales are still up 3% over the same period, breaking the 26 billion mark.
By the end of the first quarter, the official website of Zara has officially landed in Brazil. The online sales network of Inditex has covered Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, Serbia, Indonesia, Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
This fall, the Zara online sales network will also land in South Africa, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Columbia, Philippines and Ukraine.
In addition to the expansion of online business, Inditex also adopted a series of innovative marketing measures in the first quarter.
At the 200th anniversary celebration of the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain, Zara launched the "Becoming a work of art" series, combining the famous works of art with the costumes. Zara launched the ZARA SRPLS new series in the quarter, and announced in May that it will cooperate with the Chelsea Institute of art to launch the student design series. The Museum will also be unveiled at the Milan Furniture Fair with its home brand brand, its fashion brand and its lingerie fashion brand.
Inditex's fashion brand Pull&Bear launched and launched the first capsule design series in collaboration with Pull&Bear Primavera Sound of Barcelona spring Sound Festival at brand App, website and boutique.
After the Barcelona Music Festival, Pull&Bear took the waste plastic bottles and other plastic waste collected to the factory and decomposed the recycled plastics into fiber materials, then used to produce recycled polyester fabrics.

As of April 30th, the key financial data for the first quarter of Inditex fiscal year 2019 are as follows:
Net sales grew 5% to 5 billion 930 million euro
Gross profit increased 6% to 3 billion 524 million euros compared to the same period last year.
Gross profit margin was 59.5%, up from 58.9% in the same period last year.
EBITDA (profit before interest tax depreciation and amortization) increased by 49% to 1 billion 675 million euros compared with the previous year; if it did not affect IFRS 16 (IFRS sixteenth lease), EBITDA grew 9% year on year.
EBIT (pre tax profit) increased by 15% to 980 million euros compared with the same period last year; if not IFRS 16, the EBIT increased 7% over the same period last year.
Net profit increased 10% to 734 million euros compared with the same period last year, and net profit rose 7% compared to the same period without IFRS 16.
