EU Assists Burma In Promoting Intelligent Textile And Garment Sustainability Plan

The Burma Times reported that the European Union has promoted intelligent textile and clothing sustainable plan in Burma. It has been supported by H&M, Bestseller, C&A and other well-known retailers worldwide. The Burma textile and garment supply chain is also in line with the implementation. It focuses on education and training, social and working environment satisfaction improvement, and so on. It is aimed at improving workplace communication, personnel data management system construction, workplace safety and health, chemical and waste management and energy efficiency.

MyoAung, Secretary General of the Ministry of labor, migration and population in Burma, said the EU has an unswerving position to improve Burma's working conditions and corporate social responsibilities. In addition, the Deputy European Union deputy president of the Burma cooperation and development PedroCampoLlopis said that since 2013, the export of garment industry in Burma has grown staggering. The European Union is in an important market, especially for the Burma women, which creates considerable employment opportunities. The smart textile and clothing planning department has transformed the Burma garment industry into a more sustainable business.

According to JacobClere, head of Burma intelligent textile and garment making program, since 2016, with the support of the Burma Garment Manufacturers Association, about 299 garment and textile manufacturers have supported Burma's intelligent textile and garment production plan, making Burma production conform to the concept of sustainable production regulation, and won the favor of EU consumers. In the future, EU enterprises will increase investment in the garment industry of Burma.
