First International Conference On Fashion And Sustainable Development Held

To jointly promote the transformation and upgrading of the fashion industry and the sustainable development of the fashion industry, strengthen scientific research on the sustainable development of fashion, conduct interdisciplinary, cross disciplinary and multidisciplinary academic cooperation to explore the forefront and trend of innovation in the fashion industry. In the morning of December 14th, the first International Conference on fashion and sustainable development organized by the Wuhan Textile University was held at Wuhan Textile University.

This international academic forum focuses on "integration and symbiosis". The participants focus on the forefront of the international fashion industry, and fully communicate and communicate with each other on the relationship between sustainable development and industry, design, culture and technology, hoping to further promote the sustainable development of the fashion industry through further integration of resources.

The forum has attracted wide attention from renowned experts from universities and industry in the world. 15 foreign experts from 7 countries and regions in the United States, Britain, Australia, Romania, Portugal, Bangladesh and India have participated in the forum from 200 representatives of scholars, business representatives and teachers and students from the domestic fashion industry chain.

Ni Yangsheng, executive vice president of the China Textile and clothing education association, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that the textile industry has new labels under the new historical conditions -- technology, fashion and green, that is, the innovation driven technology industry, the responsibility oriented green industry and the culture LED industry. He stressed that the development of the garment industry in the future should be based on the present, and infiltrate the concept of environmental protection into the front line of the industry, and guide the market and enterprises to embark on the path of green environmental protection, so as to meet the requirements of the society for green textile and clothing products.

The chairman of the organizing committee, Professor Peng Yuyuan, President of Wuhan Textile University, delivered a keynote speech entitled "fashion and future". The report explained the understanding of future fashion around three aspects: environment-friendly green "new fashion", "people-oriented" harmonious "new fashion" and "new fashion" of the past and the present. It also introduced the important practice and exploration of Wuhan Textile University in the sustainable development of fashion.

Professor David Tyler of Manchester City University, Professor Lynda Grose of California University of art, associate professor of Nolene Byrne, Deakin University, Professor Raul Fangueiro of the University of Minogue in Australia, Professor Grose, chief innovation strategist of the H&M Global Change global innovation awards, and Professor Romania, Professor of technology at the University of Technology, respectively, made their keynote reports in their own research area and in the field of fashion sustainable development.

In the past 20 years, the concept of producer responsibility has undergone tremendous leaps and bounds, and the concept of circular economy has been gradually taken seriously, said David Tyler, a professor at Manchester City University, the Resyntex head of the European Union fund project, the recycling of waste clothing and textiles and the circular economy. Our goal is not only to reduce waste, but to transform waste into resources, that is, waste materials are recycled instead of discarded. At the same time, there are still some cultural barriers in the implementation of various new technology solutions, which will have an impact on the retail industry, supply chain, consumers and designers, and need to be solved.

Lynda Grose, a professor at the California School of art, co-founder of ESPRIT project, an expert in fashion and sustainable development, traces back to the fashion and sustainable development of the past 30 years, and points out the conflict between ecological protection and the concept of economic growth. She stressed: if the fashion industry is to be coordinated with the natural ecosystem, it needs the support of the whole society.

Nolene Byrne, an associate professor at Deakin University in Australia and an expert on materials design in the recycling economy and sustainable value field of the Institute of advanced materials, and the winner of the 2017 global change award, introduced the research frontiers of Deakin University on sustainable development of textile materials: how to extract pigment from waste clothing, how to use the upper loop method to increase the value of textile wastes and the development of new cellulose materials.

Raul Fangueiro, a professor of Minogue University in Portugal, analyzed the advantages of various natural fiber materials in environmental protection. Combined with the transformation of scientific research achievements, it introduced a number of scientific and technological frontiers of research and development of various new textile materials. He believed that scientific and technological factors would play a crucial role in the sustainable development of future fashion.

Erik Bang, chief innovation strategist of H&M Global Change Award Global Innovation Award, and Hongkong HKRITA institution's textile recycling and reuse project, believes that the conflict between fashion and environment needs to be realized through the means of paying attention to resources and adjusting products.

Professor Gheorghe Asachi University of technology in Romania, AUTEX chairman of the European Textile University Alliance, Mirela Blaga, an expert in zero waste products, clothing sustainable design and manufacturing industry, combined with the knitting industry, analyzed the trend of digitalization and sustainable development. She believed that fashion has entered the era of digitalization and integrated manufacturing, and introduced the intelligent knitting manufacturing system developed around the concept of sustainable development.

During the forum, sponsored by the Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Shandong College of Arts and Crafts, Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology, Xi'an Polytechnic University, Xi'an Polytechnic University, Manchester, city of England, winner of fashion Holdings Limited, Yantai Mingyuan Home Textile Co., Ltd., Wuhan Hanzheng Street Management Committee, Wuhan Textile University and other 10 units, the "fashion Sustainable Education Alliance" was launched to provide platform support for talent training and enterprise sustainable development through the integration of University and enterprise resources. At the same time, by strengthening scientific research that can continue to develop, we will further explore the trend of innovation frontier and fashion industry, and exchange new ideas, share new achievements, explore the forefront development of fashion and build academic exchange platform for garment industry scholars and researchers.

During the forum, the first "winner's fashion Cup" world environmental protection clothing innovation design competition, taking the new fashion paradigm as the theme, highlighted the innovative design of clothing under the concept of environmental protection. The purpose is to convey the concept of sustainable design through the design works, to disseminate sustainable fashion concepts, to explore new ways and new ways of sustainable design, and to encourage and explore compound design talents with both technology and fashion creativity. The joint exhibition on sustainable fashion design in Sino British joint teaching fashion shows the understanding and interpretation of fashion and sustainable development between the two universities under different cultural backgrounds in the East and West under the guidance of the joint teaching results of the Wuhan Textile University and the City University of Manchester. They use their creative vision and technical ability to design and challenge the design of the existing fashion system, and also provide solutions for the real world industrial problems and promote the sustainable development of the fashion industry.
