In the past 70 years since the founding of new China, the Chinese textile industry has undergone great historical changes, from the shortage of supply to the world of clothing. As the pillar industry of the national economy and the "mother industry" of the new China's industrial process, the contribution made by the textile industry is worth remembering forever. Those old textile industrial bases that made outstanding contributions in the history of new China have begun to build museums and industrial parks to record and commemorate the history. In 2019, another senior textile industry base in China, Zhengzhou, Henan, also announced that after many years of construction, it would open the Museum of textile industry, and began collecting exhibits for the whole society.
It is understood that the Zhengzhou Textile Industrial Heritage Museum is built on the original national cotton three factory office buildings, workshops and other cultural relic buildings. The project was approved in July 2016 and will start construction in the near future. The museum mainly through the scene restoration and scene reappearance, so that tourists in the tourism industry, experience the unique production life style and moving story of the industrial age, understand the Zhengzhou industrial workers' struggle and the spirit of the upsurge of the times.
"When the machine rings, gold is worth two." Zhengzhou, located at the intersection of Beijing Guangzhou and Longhai railway, was established by the central government as one of the key areas of national industrial construction after the founding of new China. The most prominent one is the construction and development of the textile industry.
Zhengzhou is located in the hinterland of the Central Plains, extending in all directions, with obvious traffic advantages. In addition, Northern Henan and southern Henan were the main cotton producing areas in those days, and together with Xianyang, Shijiazhuang and Beijing, they were identified as "the four new textile bases" by the state. From 1960s to 80s, the six major textile factories in Zhengzhou were standing side by side, and a large number of large and medium-sized industrial production projects were completed successively. Driven by the textile industry, Zhengzhou has rapidly expanded the urban framework and gathered the population. It can be said that the textile industry has made great contributions to Zhengzhou's urban development.
With the rapid increase of the demand for light industrial products, the state has invested in the construction of Zhengzhou dyeing and printing plant, Henan first textile equipment factory and other textile industrial enterprises, and established Henan textile industry school and Henan textile technical school to train textile talents. Zhengzhou has become one of the most important textile industrial bases in China.
Nowadays, the construction of a museum showing the development process of Zhengzhou's textile industry is not only the aspiration of Zhengzhou's textile people, but also a popular move to preserve the city's imprint and enhance the soft power of the city's culture. At present, there is no Industrial Heritage Museum in Henan province. The construction of this museum has a pioneering significance for the research and exhibition of the whole industrial development history in Central Plains.
