    Recently, the Beijing Consumers Association has carried out a comparative test on 60 cashmere sweaters of some shopping malls in the city and online shopping platforms such as vip.com. It was tested that a knitted sweater purchased from vip.com was counterfeit as cashmere and suspected of fraud. Beijing famous brands such as Saussurea involucrata, Shanghai "Chao Jun" and Tianjin "Ke Luo Ba" also discovered the problem of fuzzing and pilling and dissolvable substances of dichloromethane.

    In fact, in the cashmere market, it is not the first time that the wool has been cashmere and the quality of products is not up to standard. Reporter survey found that some textile processing factories in production and manufacturing process "shoddy", in their hands, cashmere will be mixed with wool, after dyeing, carding and other processes, made into cashmere garments, and then according to the needs of the seller's order, put the well-known brand label, deliberately raise the cashmere content, at a price higher than the wholesale price of two times or more into the mall and other channels, and ultimately sold to consumers.

    Many industry insiders told reporters that although the state has strict quality standards for cashmere products, the difficulty and cost of cashmere detection are high. Many consumers lack the sense of authenticity and discrimination. Some businesses occupy the market and start playing "edge ball". Generally speaking, the cashmere market is mixed up, and the phenomenon of changing concepts and falsely reporting ingredients is common.

    Virtual high cashmere content

    According to the results of the comparative test of cashmere sweaters released recently by Beijing Consumers Association, the samples of cashmere sweaters were collected from Beijing's joint health department, Beijing Lafayette department store, Xidan Joy City and other shopping malls as well as 4 online shopping platforms such as Tmall mall, Jingdong mall, vip.com and suning.com, and the sample prices ranged from 380 yuan to 8588 yuan.

    After testing, a ROYAR Wuxi deer arhat bun knitted sweater, which is purchased from vip.com, is priced at 689 yuan, indicating 53.5% sheep wool and 45% cashmere wool. It is actually 100% wool (except rib), which is suspected of counterfeiting.

    It is understood that in this comparative test, 7 samples of dichloromethane soluble substances were not up to standard, including a "ISABEL MARANT" women's Pullover priced at 7310 yuan from SKP shopping mall in Beijing. Dichloromethane soluble material is a component of wool and cashmere products, which can be extracted by dichloromethane, including natural wool grease, additives such as spinning oil, detergent and softener added in the production process. If the solubility of dichloromethane in wool and cashmere textiles is high, it will feel sticky and smelly.

    Moreover, in this comparative test, the pilling properties of the 6 samples did not meet the relevant standard requirements. The nominal brands of the 6 samples were KLOVA kroba, U.S.POLOASSN., Baykal Baikal, RONGDIAN velvet, ROYAR deer, and ZUJAMO zhuyama.

    The above matters are just the tip of the iceberg in the cashmere industry. In order to understand the status of the sales terminals of the industry, the reporter walked into the Bai Rong World Trade mall located outside the Yongding street outside Beijing. Here is the distributing center of woolen sweater and cashmere sweater. Ordos, Pierre Cardin, Rong Fuxiang and so on are well situated in the four floor of the mall. Reporters observed that the signs on the promenade were mostly marked as "sweaters", but the stores had posted "factory shops", "sweaters, cashmere sweaters, sheep's wool" and other words to attract customers.

    Reporters interviewed found that, according to the production of raw materials to be divided, the store sells four kinds of wool products, namely, pure cashmere single product, wool and cashmere mixed single product, pure wool single product and wool and other chemical fiber materials blended single products, merchants are claimed to be cashmere sweaters.

    A number of shop staff told reporters that the shop is a factory discount shop, manufacturers directly supply, 100% pure cashmere, retail prices are more than 2000 yuan. But near the Spring Festival, manufacturers are doing activities to clean up inventory, discount can be reduced to 300~600 yuan, only one can also go wholesale prices. When the reporter inquired about the amount of cashmere, a shop staff told reporters without a taboo: "with a cashmere sweater as an example, the cashmere content is 93%, but when the neckline is used for sewing, it can not be seen." However, the reporter noted that the "100% pure cashmere" was printed on the commodity certificate, and the brand logo of the commodity was not available.

    According to the relevant industry standards, the cashmere content of pure cashmere products should be 100% (cashmere is over 95%, the rest is suspected cashmere), and the wool content of pure wool products should be over 95%. Less than this proportion is cashmere blended products or wool blended products.

    Gong Yancheng, a professor at the school of materials at Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology, told reporters that only goats in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Ningxia, Gansu and other Alpine regions can produce real cashmere, and the output is very scarce. In the transaction, the price is determined by "soft gold". Theoretically, sheep do not produce cashmere, they produce wool, and cashmere is thinner than wool. Some businesses call themselves "cashmere products". They are playing "edge ball".

      A mixed market

    So, where are the sources of business? How do these relatively cheap cashmere sweaters produce and make their way to the market? Qinghe County, located in Xingtai city of Hebei Province, is undoubtedly a place that can not be wound. It is called the "Cashmere capital of China". It is the largest distributing center of cashmere and cashmere products in the world, and 40% of cashmere products are traded in Qinghe County every year.

    Wang Dake (a pseudonym) has been engaged in textile processing for more than 10 years in Qinghe County. He told reporters that he had worked in the cashmere brand deer king in early years, and now he has opened his own foundry factory. The factory is located in his own residence, similar to a family workshop, with more than ten machines, providing a one-stop service for the production of yarn to cashmere sweater garments, and for the manufacture of some large brands, cashmere sweaters will be supplied to shopping malls and exclusive stores.

    Wang Dake said he produced a cashmere sweater containing 100% cashmere, the wholesale price is 400 yuan, he only earn about 50 yuan of processing and processing fees. For small workshops, the source of tourists is unstable, and their needs are different. Those large manufacturers have bargaining power in the channel, and the profit margins will be bigger. They will be made into uniform garments and wholesale dealers.

    "OEM and high imitation." Speaking of this OEM mode, Wang Dake said frankly that this is an open secret in the locals. After receiving orders, they will buy raw materials through acquaintances, and then make garments through combed, spinning, knitting, sewing, washing, packing and finalizing. Finally, they are bought and sold by merchants and can sell thousands of yuan to the mall.

    Wang Dake counted the accounts for the reporters. At present, the price of cashmere raw materials is at a high level in the market. Qinghe County's local cashmere raw material is about 1.3 yuan, and a single cashmere sweater without pattern is basically 250 grams, plus processing fees and wastage in the production process. If the merchants sell their own cards, the price from the production line will only be about 300 yuan.

    According to a number of insiders in Hebei and Jiangsu, there are also some agents who get the authorization of other clothing brands to distribute the original cashmere sweater to the processing plant for batch imitation. After that, the laundry labels and product labels are packaged on the clothes. After long term cooperation, the processing factory will deliver the goods to the merchants by express delivery, and the transaction will be completed online.

    For this kind of counterfeit business, Wang Dake said: "this process is not complicated. As long as you provide samples, tell the style and thickness, we can achieve high imitation. As for cashmere content, how much do you want to write?"

    The reporter contacted a number of manufacturers on the basis of the custom pure cashmere sweater. The other side's common saying is that now the sampling and supervision of cashmere products are more and more strict. They usually only provide "white skin" (Note: no cashmere sweater without any indication), so many of the sweaters sold on the market will not appear factory name, factory site and brand information.

    Wang Dake from his contact customers observed that the cashmere sweater containing about 30% of the cashmere can only cope with the Taobao channel. These non standard goods are often blended with wool or other chemical fibers in the production process. Generally speaking, less than 400 yuan can hardly buy pure cashmere sweaters. "Cashmere sweater and sweater production process is almost the same, but the two are very different in quality, in fact, we are very clear that cashmere is cashmere, wool is wool, but many businesses will use the concept of marketing, low-end market is doing this." Wang Dake also felt helpless.

      Death of governance

    Gong Yancheng told reporters that in the wool textile industry, cashmere products have strict testing standards, and need to carry out comparative tests under the microscope. This method is highly specialized, costly and difficult to detect, and ordinary consumers often do not have such conditions. It is difficult to distinguish the authenticity from the naked eye. Therefore, some businessmen deliberately confuse the concept in order to increase sales volume, and advertise cotton cashmere and other words to mislead consumers during publicity.

    According to the Nanfang Daily, cashmere is a primary agricultural product, and its grading is in batches. The same batch of cashmere comes from different sheep. Even the same sheep, there are differences in cashmere from different parts. So even a certain level of cashmere can be slightly different.

    Although China has established relevant cashmere inspection institutions and wool textile industry associations, there are still limited services for enterprises in standardization construction, information sharing, business early warning and so on, and there are many trade barriers in the world because of the differentiation of inspection. Sun Wei, a brand marketing researcher at Tsinghua University, and director of fast technology, pointed out to reporters that in order to regulate the domestic cashmere market, the measures currently taken are mainly two ways: official inspection and consumer reporting, and the intensity is very limited.

    "Strictly speaking, if the cashmere content does not reach 95%, it can not be called cashmere products, and a high-grade cashmere sweater is retailing at a price of at least 5000 yuan. Now the electronic business platform is fake, and some high-grade cashmere sweaters are not sold in the domestic market, but for the developed countries such as the United States and Japan." Gong Yancheng told reporters. According to the data released by the National Bureau of statistics, in 2018, the export volume of cashmere in China was 3212 tons and the total export volume was 237 million 940 thousand US dollars.

    In order to find a way out, enterprises are also working hard. Many enterprises in Inner Mongolia, including Ordos group and deer king group, have made full use of many years of brand accumulation and rich operation experience to get through the cashmere industry chain, and set up the whole industry chain management mode from raw pile purchase to initial processing, deep processing, garment production, brand promotion, channel construction and product sales.

    Sun Wei believes that the development of cashmere brand needs mature industrial chain system to support, Erdos and Lu Wang have made a better attempt, but the cashmere consumption market needs further activation. In his view, compared with the past, the production technology of the textile industry has made great progress. Some cashmere products can basically meet the needs of the consumers, and the fashion of the pure cashmere sweater is lacking. This is the difficulty that the cashmere brand needs to break through in the future.
