Nike Super 70% Shoes Clothing Uses Recyclable Materials
In February 11th, Nike released the Nike impact report in fiscal year 2019. Nike has made positive progress in many fields in the 2019 fiscal year. In fiscal year 2019, 76% of Nike's footwear and clothing used recyclable materials, an increase of 3% over the previous fiscal year. 99.9% of the waste products produced in the manufacturing process were reused through the signing of factory's recycling or energy conversion.
The report shows that Nike will also convert more than 1 billion plastic bottles into footwear and clothing with renewable materials. Since the 2010 fiscal year, Nike has transformed over 7 billion 500 million plastic bottles recovered from landfills and other places. In addition, Nike has signed a number of agreements, which generate nearly 600 thousand megawatts of renewable energy each year, which is equivalent to more than 75% of Nike's global electricity consumption. In terms of water resources, Nike's use of water resources in textile dyeing and finishing processes has been reduced by 20%, and the target for 2020 has been completed in 18 months ahead of schedule, and 125% has exceeded its quota.
In China, Nike continues to practice green development. In logistics and transportation, 30% of the inter provincial long-distance transportation uses liquefied natural gas as fuel, and electric vehicles are implemented in several municipal transportation lines. At the same time, Nike China logistics center has achieved 25% electricity consumption relying on solar power generation. As part of the global MadetoPlay project, the "vitality campus" is a key project of long-term strategic cooperation between Nike and China's Ministry of education, and has been continuously successful. Over the past 3 years, over 7000 teachers have been trained, providing 7100 teaching resources for physical education and 2 million children.
In addition, in fiscal year 2019, Nike continued to transform its sports shoes into NikeGrind recycled rubber. Through the Shirt-to-Bag project, Nike converted its old clothes into environmental bags, helping to promote Nike's commitment to sustainable development.
Tang Ruoxiu, President and chief executive officer of Nike group, said that in recent years, in addition to promoting the development of sports, we are also facing more severe challenges, that is, to help protect the sports itself. Because without the earth, there would be no movement. It is this concept that has motivated us to continue our efforts in the field of sustainable and community impact.
