IKEA, UNIQLO And Muji Have Resumed Business In Batches.
With the continuous development of the national epidemic prevention and control situation, the resumption of business under the retail trade line is accelerating.
In February 27th, according to incomplete statistics of surging journalists, IKEA, UNIQLO, Muji, old Buddha, Anta, Cage and other retail brands have gradually resumed the operation of offline stores. Previously, the brand was affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, all or part of the closure of offline stores.
On the afternoon of February 27th, Swedish home retailer IKEA (IKEA) announced that some of its brand stores in China will resume operation. Since March 1st, Shanghai Baoshan shopping mall, Shanghai Bei Cai shopping mall, Shanghai Yangpu shopping center, Hangzhou shopping mall and Wuxi shopping mall have resumed business; Shanghai Xuhui shopping mall has resumed business since March 2nd. The business hours of shopping malls are 10:00-18:00, but IKEA customers restaurants, small restaurants and children's parks are not open.
In addition, two major Japanese chain retailers, Muji and UNIQLO, are gradually resuming the operation of Chinese stores. As of the morning of February 26th, the number of stores in UNIQLO dropped to 150, accounting for 20% of the total number of 750 stores in the country. Compared with 370 stores in the peak hours (February 7th data), nearly half of the stores that were closed due to the outbreak of the epidemic had returned to normal.
MUJI has also resumed store operations. According to the Nikkei news, as of February 25th, the number of Muji based stores in China has dropped to 70, equivalent to 20% of all stores, compared with 151 stores in the peak period (February 9th data), which has decreased by nearly half. MUJI's parent company's good quality plan told Japanese media that "it will be judged on the basis of national, regional and commercial facilities."
On the same day, France's old department store "old Buddha department store" also announced that two stores in mainland China (Beijing old Buddha and Shanghai Buddha) will resume operation of the whole library from February 27th. Business hours are adjusted to 11:00-19:00, Beijing's old Buddha's department store, 10:00-20:00, Shanghai's old Buddha's department store. Before entering the mall, customers need temperature tests and wear masks.
It is worth mentioning that some brands began to resume operation last week.
In February 17th, Anta sports (02020.HK) announced that nearly 40% of its brands in mainland China have resumed business since February 14th, and the remaining stores will be resumed according to the development of the epidemic and the policies of local governments, and the group's own factories have gradually resumed production from this week.
Last week, Canadian sports brand Lululemon, known for its yoga products, also said that most of its stores in mainland China have been restored.
Its fashion enterprises (Razzle, Dazzle, Dzzit and other brands) are fashionable (23.110, 0.51, 2.26%) (603587.SH) also said that offline stores are being restored according to the actual situation of various places.
Affected by the epidemic, retail sales, including footwear and sports goods, have been generally hit since the Spring Festival holiday.
Nearly half of Nike's self operated stores in Greater China are suspended, franchising stores are similar, and stores still open for business. In its official website, Nike said, "in the short term, the business of Nike Greater China will be greatly affected." Adidas's 1.2 stores in China also shut down a number of proprietary stores and franchised stores.
According to CNBC, the US financial media, Adidas said that since the Spring Festival, the number of stores has decreased significantly, compared with the same period last year, business activities fell by about 85% over the same period last year.
German sportswear group Puma (Puma) said that since February, they have also observed the negative impact of the new crown outbreaks on business. More than half of Puma's own and franchised stores have been suspended. As a result of the outbreak, the number of Chinese consumers traveling abroad has declined sharply, which has also affected the business in Asia and elsewhere.
But the Bank of America Securities research report pointed out that China's sporting goods industry has entered a structural upward trend since 2014. The new crown pneumonia will cause short-term fluctuations in the industry, but believe that the growth momentum lasting for several years will continue.
CITIC construction investment (33.460, 0.22, 0.66%) research report also pointed out that, after the end of the epidemic, on the one hand, the national health awareness will be further enhanced, effectively driving the motivation and demand for physical exercise, on the other hand, the offline consumption will revive and activate the retail of sports shoes and clothing. Therefore, after the end of the epidemic, sports shoes and clothing can achieve a good rebound.
