The export scale of the industry is shrinking.
Judging from the export scale of the garment industry, China is undoubtedly a big exporter of clothing. Its annual export volume exceeds US $100 billion, much larger than that of clothing imports. But in recent years, the export volume of Chinese clothing is gradually shrinking. According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, the scale of China's clothing exports is declining gradually in the past 2014-2019 years. As of the end of December 2019, China's total exports of clothing and accessories reached 151 billion 370 million US dollars, down 4.08% from the same period last year.

In 2019, the overall operation of the industry was under pressure. According to the National Bureau of statistics, in 2019 1-12, the apparel industry above designated size enterprises achieved a total operating income of 1 trillion and 601 billion 33 million yuan, down 3.45% compared to the same period last year; total profit was 87 billion 283 million yuan, down 9.75% compared with the same period last year; operating income margin was 5.45%, down 0.38 percentage points compared to the same period in 2018; gross profit margin 15.04%, increased by 0.21 percentage points over the same period in 2018. The three fee ratio is 8.91%, up 0.20 percentage points over the same period in 2018.
The resumption of work has improved.
In order to further understand the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic on the production and operation of Chinese garment enterprises and the progress of enterprises' resumption, the China Apparel Association launched the second stage questionnaire survey of garment enterprises' resumption in -28 February 27th. By the 10 point in February 29th, the association had received 325 valid questionnaires from 325 enterprises and 14 industrial clusters. From the feedback information, garment enterprises resumed production and overall production showed a positive trend. The proportion of the number of reemployed workers under normal production is higher than that of the previous period, but it still faces many difficulties and problems, such as shortage of workers, unsynchronization of the upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain, reduction of orders in the market, traffic and logistics problems, and lack of protection resources.
It is understood that at present, the return of large enterprises is better than that of small and medium-sized enterprises, but the gap is narrowed. The reemployment ratio of large enterprises is 94%, which is higher than that of medium-sized enterprises and small enterprises by 16.1 percentage points and 25.1 percentage points respectively.
