This shows that the scale of Hongkong's exports of cotton fabrics has been large enough to arouse the vigilance of the US market. Soon, European countries also joined in this short-term arrangement, hoping to rely on political power to artificially curb the invasion of Hongkong's textile industry.

    Luo Dingbang is one of the dark horses in this trend towards cotton in Europe and the United States. Unlike the less developed regions' desire for durable woven fabrics, Europe and the United States have a soft spot for soft knitted fabrics.     In early 1970s, Europe and the United States asked for a further expansion of the scope of Hongkong's cotton textiles.
