    As one of the heavyweight participants, Geely has been in this track frequently since 2019.

    Why choose to enter at this time? How will the final layout be? Geely technology will undoubtedly bring new market expectation to the development of power exchange mode.

    Step on the rhythm of change

    This is not the first time that the electricity exchange mode has become a hot word in the industry. As early as 2007, Israeli company better place put forward the mode of "vehicle electricity separation + mileage charging". However, as better place declared bankruptcy in 2013, Tesla, an industry star, clearly chose the fast charging route, which gradually weakened for a period of time.

    In contrast, Geely entered the game not early, but after a long time, its action nodes fit the rhythm of this round of domestic policy and market driving force changes.

    According to the official information of Geely science and technology, the research and development of power exchange technology began in 2017, and the intelligent power station was announced to be launched in 2020. These three years are also the three years when the power exchange mode has been gradually pushed to the heat center by the policy and market demand in China.

    On the policy side, in June 2019, the national development and Reform Commission and other ministries and commissions jointly issued the implementation plan for promoting the renewal and upgrading of key consumer goods and unimpeded resource recycling (2019-2020), proposing to develop new energy vehicle products with the separation of vehicle and electricity consumption mode, and support the construction of "charging and replacing electricity" facilities. In July of the same year, Luo Junjie, deputy director of the equipment industry department of the Ministry of industry and information technology, said at a seminar held with a number of enterprises: "it is time to consider the issue of power exchange strategically."

    Since then, this orientation has been gradually clarified and implemented. By May this year, the Ministry of industry and information technology and the Energy Administration jointly announced that the pilot application of power exchange mode will be carried out nationwide in the second half of this year. In November, the first national standard in the field of power exchange approved and issued by the State Administration of market supervision (SASC) will be formally implemented.

    On the side of the market, domestic new energy vehicle data show positive performance. In 2020, the production and sales of 1.366 million and 1.367 million vehicles will increase by 7.5% and 10.9% year-on-year. However, with the decline of financial subsidies, the driving force of the market will gradually converge to the solution of the demand end pain point, and the electricity exchange mode can just hit several major concerns of consumers in purchasing and using, namely, the convenience of charging, the cost of purchasing, the depreciation of batteries, etc.

    From the experience of better place, the industry standards are not unified, the initial investment cost is too high, and the terminal demand is insufficient, all of which lead to its failure. Industrial Synergy and a certain amount of consumer groups are the important basis for the commercialization of power exchange mode. Therefore, in this round of domestic electricity exchange mode boom, the unity of policy level and market prosperity will become an important support for its development.

    Two wheel drive

    Geely's leading platform in the field of power exchange is Geely technology group, which is positioned as an "industrial investor and operator in the field of large travel technology and ecology". This dual drive investment and operation feature is also reflected in the practice of its power exchange mode.

    On the one hand, through the establishment of a joint venture with Funeng technology and the construction of a power battery production plant, the autonomy in the industrial chain will be enhanced. On the other hand, with Lifan technology and Yiyi Internet technology as the operation platform, we will promote the market development of vehicle replacement and power station replacement respectively. Taking Yiyi Internet technology as an example, since it was officially released in September last year, it has been constructed and operated in Chongqing, Hangzhou, Jinan, Zibo, Suzhou, Nanjing and other places, and has reached cooperation agreements with Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Jiangxi Province, Laos and other domestic and foreign regions, with a total of more than 1000 replacement power stations signed.

    As a result, its position of building the industry's first three in one whole industry chain electricity exchange ecological service provider is basically clear.

    In the special report of CCTV2 economic news broadcast on May 26, Yang quankai, head of Geely Technology Group's charging and swapping ecological technology, revealed the latest strategy: "our model will have two functions of power exchange and charging at the same time. Through the b-end market, we will lay the foundation for the establishment of the power exchange mode and the power exchange network. After improving the construction of b-end network, C-end users will naturally import into the electricity exchange ecosystem together with b-end users. "

    Whether it is the integration of charging and swapping, or choosing the b-end as the starting point, Geely technology's performance in the power change track looks more like a steady player. In the initial stage of the model landing, how to quickly run through the business model and achieve profitability is an important challenge for the participants.

    Due to its high concentration, the public sector markets such as online booking, taxi, urban distribution, public transportation, logistics and so on have become the most suitable subdivision track for the implementation of the power exchange mode. Compared with the charging mode, the initial investment cost and operating cost of the exchange station are relatively higher. First of all, we choose to meet the b-end requirements with higher degree of standardization and clearer application scenarios, which reduces the risk of capital pressure in the initial stage of development.

    In addition, the synergy effect within the group and the deep integration with the local industrial ecology have also become the characteristics of Geely technology in this round of "city and land" campaign.

    The reorganization of Lifan technology after its birth is an important son of Geely technology in Chongqing and even the whole southwest region. On May 18, this year, Lifan technology announced that it had reached strategic cooperation with Cao Cao travel, easy Internet technology, as well as four major customers from Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Tianjin, and signed the purchase intention for the replacement of electric vehicles at the ceremony of the first battery swapped pure electric B-class MPV.

    On February 2, 2021, Geely Technology Group's first batch of intelligent power stations in Jingguan, lihuashan, Weilong, Luohuang and Dalu service areas were put into operation simultaneously. In the next five years, 40 smart power exchange demonstration stations of Geely Technology Group will be built and put into operation in Chongqing high-speed service area. These measures will promote the development of new energy industry electricity exchange ecology in Chongqing, and help Chongqing to apply for national new energy vehicle electricity exchange mode.
