Ministry Of Commerce: Vietnam Textile Exports Fell For 2 Consecutive Months

According to Vietnam's "Customs online" on October 28, Vietnam's textile export in September 2021 was only US $2.28 billion, down US $377 million from August and US $855 million from July, falling for two consecutive months.

At present, Vietnam's textile exports are generally showing a small growth trend. In the first nine months of 2021, textile exports reached US $23.41 billion, up nearly US $1.23 billion or 5.6% over the same period last year. The main export markets were the United States, the European Union and Japan, among which exports to the United States were $11.62 billion, an increase of 11.1%, exports to the European Union of 2.75 billion, an increase of 2.4%, and exports to Japan of $2.28 billion, a decrease of 11.6%. The main export commodities are clothing, cloth, fiber, non-woven fabric, textile accessories.

Vietnam still relies heavily on imports of raw and auxiliary materials for textile production, the report said. According to the statistics of Vietnam customs, in the first nine months of 2021, the import of raw and auxiliary materials of textile and leather shoes industry reached 19.6 billion US dollars, an increase of US $4.2 billion or 26.9% over the same period of last year. Among them, imports from China accounted for the largest proportion (52%), reaching US $10.1 billion, an increase of 31% over the same period last year, followed by South Korea's US $1.86 billion, Taiwan's US $1.83 billion, and the United States $1.4 billion.
