Indonesia Bans The Import Of Second-Hand Clothes To Protect Small And Medium-Sized Textile Enterprises

Teten Masduki, Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of Indonesia, revealed that his country would take strict measures to prevent the import of second-hand clothes and leather shoes, aiming to protect small and medium-sized textile enterprises.

On March 13, Deden Masduki told the media that the textile and clothing industry, which was seriously affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, was the main operating area of small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, the government needs to implement stimulus policies to restore the "health" of Indonesia's strong clothing, textile and clothing industry for many years. The Indonesian government will take strong measures to prevent the import of second-hand clothes and leather shoes because they are having a negative impact on the production activities of SMEs.

Deden Masduki said that it is illegal to import second-hand textiles, which is not in line with the government's efforts to encourage residents to buy local products through the proud Indonesian manufacturing national movement.
