Superimposed by factors such as the disappearance of the impact of the epidemic, the resumption of production and business in China's clothing industry was steadily accelerated. The domestic clothing market changed from decline to increase, and the market vitality continued to rise. However, due to the weakening demand in the international market, order transfer and other reasons, China's clothing exports have changed from a positive growth to a significant decline. On the whole, under the situation of domestic sales rebounding and exports declining, the growth rate of major indicators such as production, efficiency and investment of China's clothing industry has shown a significant negative growth trend, and there are still great pressures and challenges for the industry to maintain a stable recovery.
01 Production
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to February 2023, the industrial added value of enterprises above designated size in China's clothing industry dropped 9.6% year on year, 7.7 percentage points deeper than that of the whole year of 2022; The clothing output of enterprises above designated size reached 3.856 billion pieces, down 12.21% year on year, 8.85 percentage points more than that of 2022.
02 Domestic sales
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to February 2023, the total retail sales of consumer goods in China will be 7706.7 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5% year on year, 3.7 percentage points higher than that in 2022. Among them, the retail sales of clothing commodities of units above the designated size totaled 189.48 billion yuan, up 6.4% year on year, 14.1 percentage points higher than that of 2022.
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to February 2023, the online retail sales of physical goods reached 1747.6 billion yuan, up 5.3% year on year. Among them, the online retail sales of clothing products increased by 4.0% year on year, 0.5 percentage points faster than that in 2022.
03 Outlet
According to Chinese customs data, from January to February 2023, China's clothing and clothing accessories exports totaled 21.678 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 14.7%, with an increase rate of 17.9 percentage points lower than that of 2022.
04 Investment
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to February 2023, the actual completed investment in China's clothing industry decreased by 2.9% year on year, and the growth rate decreased by 28.2 percentage points compared with the whole year of 2022.
05 Benefits
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to February 2023, 13629 enterprises above the designated size (annual main business income of 20 million yuan and above) in China's clothing industry achieved an operating income of 185.84 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 10.5%, 5.9 percentage points deeper than that in 2022; The total profit was 7.67 billion yuan, down 13.5% year on year, 7.2 percentage points deeper than that of 2022; The operating income profit margin is only 4.13%, lower than 1.12 percentage points in 2022.
