       The 2024 Science and Technology Award of China Textile Industry Federation was announced recently. Professor Wang Dong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Wuhan Textile University, as the first person to complete the project, jointly developed with Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd., Fujian Huafeng New Materials Co., Ltd., and 361 Degrees (China) Co., Ltd., the "Key Technology for Manufacturing Heat and Humidity Stimulation Responsive Polyester Fiber and Comfort Smart Adjusting Fabric" project, Won the first prize of technological invention of China Textile Industry Federation.
       China's polyester fiber production capacity is leading in the world, which is the basis of the textile industry. Its function and intelligence are the key to innovation and promotion of international competitiveness. Comfort is the core function of polyester fiber, and the industry pursues intelligent adjustment of thermal and wet comfort. But at present, it is difficult for polyester fiber to realize intelligent adjustment, and it is difficult to give consideration to both functionality and processability and practicability. In view of the problem that traditional polyester fiber and its fabric are limited by structure and performance, and the comfort adjustment ability in hot and wet environments is naturally insufficient, Professor Wang Dong led the team to deeply explore the function and intelligence of polyester fiber materials for many years, and created a new structure of polyester fiber that can produce reversible deformation under the stimulation of heat and moisture, and created a new mechanism for intelligent adjustment of fabric thermal and wet comfort, It has developed a new technology for the preparation of heat and moisture responsive polyester fibers and comfort intelligent adjusting fabrics, which subverts the heat and moisture transmission mechanism of existing fabrics by improving the fiber moisture absorption or increasing the specific surface area to accelerate heat loss and sweat evaporation, synergistically improves the heat and moisture comfort, dyeing and wearability, and promotes the upgrading of polyester fiber products, It has promoted the high-quality development of the textile industry.
       Original fiber and new structure enable clothes to breathe like skin
       The project has opened up an innovative way for the existing technical problems of polyester fiber in terms of thermal and wet stimulation responsiveness. By realizing the multi-level structure changes of fiber deformation, yarn holding and relaxation, and fabric opening and closing, a new idea of intelligent adjustment of fabric thermal and wet comfort has been successfully explored. This research is the first time to endow the fabric with the dynamic opening and closing function of human skin pores, revealing the regularity of polyester fiber in the process of stimulus response deformation, so that clothing can "breathe" like skin. In addition, the project has also established a theoretical framework for intelligent adjustment of fabric thermal and wet comfort, realizing the innovative transformation from one-way regulation to two-way intelligent regulation mechanism. Through this series of research and exploration, the project not only promoted the development of polyester fiber technology, but also laid a solid foundation for the application of intelligent fabrics in the future.
       Create new polyester fiber preparation technology to achieve multi performance synergy
       In order to precisely control the structure of new polyester fiber, the project innovatively developed new technologies through monomer design, controllable copolymerization and melt impact spinning, and successfully realized the industrial production of fibers of various specifications. These fibers exhibit reversible deformation characteristics under the stimulation of heat and moisture, and their torsion performance is 5-10 times higher than that of conventional fibers, providing key fiber materials for developing fabrics with intelligent adjustment function of heat and moisture comfort.
       Initiate heat and moisture intelligent adjustment polyester fabric to fill the gap in the intelligent fabric market
       In view of the technical challenges such as the insufficient structural stability of polyester fabric and the difficulty in dyeing, the project has designed an intelligent adjustment polyester fabric suitable for multi fields of thermal and wet comfort, which has realized the significant improvement of air permeability and moisture permeability in the wet state, respectively 2.5 times and 1.5 times higher than the international advanced level, and dynamically adjusted the body temperature difference of 3-5 ° C. At the same time, the problems of uneven dyeing, color fastness and stability caused by the new fiber structure were solved, and the industrial application of this kind of intelligent fabric was realized for the first time in the world.
       The project technology has been successfully cross-border applied in many fields, such as clothing, shoe materials and home textiles, and has won widespread praise in the market. Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company registered this fiber as "Yishuang" ?”, And the project team, together with well-known enterprises such as 361, Joyful Home Textile and Li Ning, designed the fabric structure and jointly developed the hot and wet comfort intelligent adjustment products favored by the market. By "Yishuang" ?” The developed smart T-shirt can sensitively sense the subtle changes of ambient temperature and humidity, realize the excellent function of two-way intelligent temperature and humidity regulation, and bring consistent comfort to the wearer.
