The 3Rd Hubei Blue Dye Cultural Industry Base Conference Was Held In The Science Park Of Central China Normal University

On December 18, the 3rd Hubei Blue Dye Cultural Industry Base Conference was held in the Science Park of Central China Normal University with the theme of "inheriting the millennium Chu Blue to boost the new quality productivity of printing and dyeing in North Africa".

The conference was directed by China Textile Engineering Society, hosted by Wuhan Ranyu Intangible Culture Communication Co., Ltd. and Huazhong Normal University National University Science Park, and undertaken by Hubei Blue Dye Cultural Industry Base Alliance Headquarters and Wuhan Textile University Fangda Ranyu Natural Dyeing Studio. More than 30 experts and scholars in the field of blue dye culture, representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage projects and entrepreneurs gathered together to offer wisdom and suggestions for promoting the high-quality development of Hubei blue dye cultural industry.

The conference held the awarding ceremony of "Hubei Blue Dye Cultural Industry Base Alliance". Six base units, including Yichang Blue Dyeing Workshop, Yichang Qiushi Homestay Warm Blue Workshop, Qinglantiao Workshop, Shuidu Qiaojie Intangible Cultural Heritage Handicraft Workshop, Xiangyang Qingxiang Blue Dyeing Workshop and Hongyue Tie Dyeing Workshop, were awarded the plaque of "Hubei Blue Dyeing Cultural Industry Base Alliance". Since its establishment in 2022, Hubei Blue Dye Cultural Industry Base Alliance has covered many regions in Hubei Province, making Jingchu Blue Dye, an ancient intangible cultural heritage traditional printing and dyeing technology, revitalized.

Jingchu Blue Dyeing has a long history of inheritance. China is one of the first countries in the world to use mineral, plant and animal dyes for manual printing and dyeing of textiles. Among many printing and dyeing techniques, indigo dyeing process, which began in the Qin and Han dynasties, is an important dyeing method. The word "blue" in blue dyeing can be traced back to the word "blue" carved on bamboo slips unearthed in Hubei during the Warring States Period of King Huai of Chu. "Polygonum hydropiper", a plant used to dye green, is also widely planted in Hubei.

The Hubei Blue Dye Cultural Industry Base Conference has been held for three consecutive sessions since 2022, which is an important platform for the exchange of intangible cultural heritage blue dye cultural industry in Hubei Province. This conference is not only an academic seminar on Jingchu Blue Dyeing and related printing and dyeing culture and skills in Hubei Province, but also an industrial conference to discuss the innovation, entrepreneurship, inheritance and training path of Jingchu traditional printing and dyeing intangible cultural heritage talents, aiming to explore and build a new ecology of the printing and dyeing industry of intangible cultural heritage in Hubei Province, focusing on the fields of intangible cultural heritage communication, product design and development, commercial value transformation, etc, Promote the development of textile intangible heritage printing and dyeing inheritance and innovative new quality productivity in central China.
