"From cotton planting, growth to picking, we have formed a meteorological service for the whole process of cotton planting." Huo Huanguo, head of the Xinjiang Agricultural Meteorological Observatory, introduced that in recent years, in order to improve cotton quality and yield, the Xinjiang Meteorological Bureau, together with relevant departments, has carried out the fine regionalization of cotton climate adaptability planting in Xinjiang, and analyzed the situation of suitable cotton planting in various regions, Vigorously ensure the high-quality development of cotton industry.

Since 2024, Xinjiang Meteorological Bureau has further improved cotton meteorological automatic observation technology, developed cotton planting area and growth remote sensing monitoring technology, improved cotton meteorological service index system, produced and released agricultural weather forecast, disaster risk early warning and monitoring forecast, key agricultural meteorological services, pest and disease meteorological services and other products, and released and pushed regional, disaster specific More than 100 periods of cotton meteorological service information have been provided in different periods to protect cotton planting in an all-round way.

"Now the weather forecast is more and more accurate, and the weather service is also very timely. In case of high temperature, strong wind and other adverse weather, mobile phones will receive early warning information and prevention suggestions a few days in advance." Ai Haipeng, manager of the "super cotton field" in Yuli County, said.

In addition, in 2024, Xinjiang Meteorological Bureau carried out the first benefit evaluation test of three meteorological services, namely, prediction of suitable topping period for cotton, prediction of suitable spraying period for defoliant, and early warning of high temperature and heat damage risk in flowering and boll period, and initially established a benefit evaluation model. At the same time, Xinjiang Meteorological Bureau has improved the cotton meteorological service platform and realized the weather service for cotton growth based on land plots.

"We will further promote the development of core technologies and algorithms for automatic observation, establish a cotton meteorological science and technology innovation base, realize location and scenario based smart cotton meteorological services, and provide a solid meteorological guarantee for cotton yield and income," Huo Xunguo said.
