Tujia Sisters "Dream Weaving": Inheriting Xilankapu In Innovation
Xilankapu is the "flower bedding" of Tujia people. It is a kind of brocade technique, with simple patterns, thick texture and various designs. In 2006, Xilankapu was included in the national intangible cultural heritage representative project list. Tan Yanhua and Tan Yanbin, Tujia girls in Enshi, Hubei, have been fascinated by Xilankapu since childhood. They traveled to Hubei and Hunan to investigate and visit, learn from teachers, and transport Tujia looms to Wuhan after learning, creating a national style clothing brand. After years of hard work in big cities, the two sisters realized that Xilankapu carries the memory and nostalgia of Tujia people, and hometown is the fertile land for the inheritance and development of this ancient skill.
