China'S Textile Exports To The US Fell 17.6% In February
The rapid growth of China's textile exports has been slowing down for several years.
The latest statistics of Customs show that in the first two months of this year, the total export volume of textiles and clothing in China only reached 8.19% growth rate, which was 30.9% lower than that in the same period of 2007. In February, China's exports to the US textile and clothing were only 1 billion 386 million US dollars, with a negative growth of 17.60%.
In February this year, China exported US $524 million and $862 million to textiles and clothing respectively, down 8.23% and 22.41% respectively compared with the same period last year. Judging from the export areas of several major textiles, Guangdong and Shanghai have the largest decline, with an increase of -23.81% and -23.69% respectively.
"At present, the survival of China's textile export enterprises is indeed more and more difficult, and there are many factors that affect the profits of enterprises, but this is also a necessity for development. Enterprises should see that the national policy has shifted from encouraging exports to increasing domestic sales, so enterprises should adjust their strategies at the right time. Yesterday, Liu Xiansheng, vice president of Guangdong apparel and apparel industry association, told reporters.
This year, affected by the RMB appreciation, export tax rebate reduction, labor law and other policy adjustments, raw material costs soaring and other comprehensive factors, the textile industry production costs generally rose by more than 10%, enterprises hope to digest the cost through the price increase, but the result has led to China's continuous decline in exports to Europe, the United States and Japan.
Despite the decline in exports to the US and Europe, senior executives of the China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce predict: "because China's capacity stock is still huge, China's textile exports are expected to increase slightly this year."
China's textile exports to the United States
July 2007 31.39%
November 2007 -5.85%
December 2007 23.97%
February 2008 -17.60%
