China'S Textile And Clothing Import And Export Report In 1-11 2007

According to the latest customs data, the textile industry in the first 11 months of 2007 accumulated a total export of US $153 billion 603 million, of which 53 billion 220 million US dollars in textile exports, 100 billion 384 million US dollars in clothing exports, and three respectively increased 19.66%, 15.68% and 21.89% over the same period last year.

The export growth of the whole industry has been below 20% for the first time since 2003.

The main reason is the decline in export volume, especially the reduction of silk products and leather products. The decline is 20%-40%, and the export growth rate has dropped by 4.88 percentage points over the same period last year.

From the analysis of import and export data over the past years, the proportion of textile and clothing imports and exports in China's total trade has been decreasing since 1992, and the proportion of exports dropped from 28.9% in 1992 to 13.92% in October 2007, while the proportion of imports decreased from 12.5% to 1.83%, and it is expected to decrease slightly next year.

In 2007 1-11, the actual export of state-owned enterprises was US $32 billion 52 million, accounting for 20.87% of total exports; foreign invested enterprises completed 44 billion 532 million US dollars in exports, accounting for 31.99% of total exports; collective enterprises completed 8 billion 238 million US dollars in exports, accounting for 5.88% of total exports;

In recent years, private enterprises have been playing a leading role in China's textile and clothing export.

In the 1-11 months of 2007, general trade actually completed 111 billion 251 million dollars, up 21.21% from last year's growth. The actual processing of materials processing has reached 10 billion 626 million US dollars, up 3.80% over the same period last year, and 23 billion 960 million US dollars in imports processing, an increase of 14.79% over the same period last year.

The export of textiles and clothing products in the form of processing trade increased more evenly, and the increase in textile and clothing exported by general trade was 2/3.

In 207 years and 1-11 months, exports to the 27 countries, the United States, Hongkong, Japan and South Korea were 24 billion 985 million, 22 billion 205 million, 20 billion 821 million, 17 billion 305 million and 4 billion 944 million dollars respectively.

Exports to Asia increased by 16.43%, and exports to Europe increased by 18.07%. Turkey was the main country to boost export growth in Europe, with an increase of 41.56%. Canada's growth rate as high as 43.57% increased the growth rate of North America. The growth rates in Africa and Latin America increased by 35.68% and 33.73% respectively, while Oceania was nearly 20%.

In 2007 1-11, exports to Europe, America, Japan, Korea and Hongkong accounted for 58.76% of the total exports, while exports to Latin America, Africa and Oceania were only 18 billion 526 million dollars, accounting for only 12.06% of total exports.

In terms of monthly export growth this month, the top three fastest growing textile and clothing products on all continents are Europe, Latin America and Africa, with an increase of 41.47%, 36.26% and 26.50% respectively.
