China Textile Industry Association Officially Joins ITFM

Du Yuzhou, President of China Textile Industry Association, met with Wouter Simeoni, President of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) in Shanghai in July 28th.

This is the first official meeting between the Chinese Textile Industry Association since its accession to the ITMF this year, marking the participation of the China Textile Industry Association in the activities of ITMF and fulfilling the responsibilities of the national representatives.

According to the briefing, ITMF was founded in 1904 and is one of the oldest non-governmental international organizations in the world's textile industry.

After more than 100 years of development, ITMF has become an important organization representing the major producers of textiles in the world, and its members cover the middle and lower reaches of the textile industry chain.

Among them, the ITMF annual meeting is an important platform for the exchange and communication of textile industry all over the world.

It is understood that in April 17th of this year's Zurich conference, the ITMF Management Committee adopted the motion on "China Textile Industry Association to become the only representative of China's textile industry and to properly solve the new position of Taiwan Textile Association of China in ITMF".

The motion confirms that the Taiwan Textile Development Association will be changed from membership to associate member. In any activity occasion and document of ITMF, Taiwan area should appear in the name of "Taipei of China" or "China Taiwan".

On the same day of the motion, the China Textile Industry Association formally submitted an application to join the ITMF and was immediately passed by the ITMF Management Committee.

Since then, the China Textile Industry Association has become the only national representative of China's textile industry in ITMF, and has the voting power of the management committee.

During the meeting, Wouter Simeoni said that after a long consultation, China formally joined the ITMF. This is a matter of "benefit from all sides". I hope that China's accession can promote exchanges between the new and old members of ITMF.

Du Yuzhou said that China is the largest country in the world's textile production, consumption and export. Its fiber processing volume is about 40% of the world's total, and its position in the world's textile industry is very important.

Today, the China Textile Industry Association has officially joined the International Federation of textile manufacturers. On the one hand, it has made the international organization more representative and authoritative in the global textile industry. On the other hand, it is more conducive to the cooperation between Chinese textile industry and other countries in the world.

Insiders pointed out that at present, as the world's largest textile producer, consumer and export country, China has an important position in the world textile industry.

After the China textile industry association becomes a statutory member of ITMF, it will undoubtedly highlight the representative and authoritative role of the international organization in the global textile industry.

It is also reported that Simeoni announced the above information at the China International Textile Machinery Exhibition held here.

This Asia's largest professional textile machinery exhibition was held in Shanghai New International Expo Center in from July 27th to 31st. Nearly 1400 enterprises from more than 30 countries and regions participated in the exhibition, with an exhibition area of 126 thousand and 500 square meters.
