Nantong Blue Print Folding Fan Will Appear In The Olympic Games.

A few days ago, the blue print Museum in Nantong, Jiangsu province came out with good news. The second batch of 600 blue print folding fans made by the museum have been shipped to Beijing, which will be presented to the elite female athletes from all over the world as gifts for Beijing Olympic Games.

Wu Yuanxin, director of the museum and member of the CPPCC National Committee of the Nantong Municipal Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, expressed with deep emotion: "CPPCC research and members' proposals have promoted the inheritance and development of our traditional folk art - Nantong blue calico."

Blue printed cloth is one of the traditional handicrafts in China.

Nantong is named "the hometown of Chinese blue print" by the Chinese Folk Artists Association.

Nantong blue printed cloth began in Ming Dynasty.

Through the efforts of generations of folk artists, the blue printed cloth has evolved from ordinary daily necessities to works of art, and has evolved into a blue and white art that is comparable to Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain with simple blue and white colors.

In 1997, Wu Yuanxin, a young folk artist of the city, raised his own funds to rent a blue printed cloth Museum of art in a remote courtyard in the Wenfeng park.

Because the art museum house is narrow and "sojourn" in the deep part of the park, it is inconvenient to enter and leave, and the popularity is not strong.

To this end, a number of members of the eight CPPCC in Nantong have repeatedly proposed proposals at the plenary session of the CPPCC, expanding the new museum, and helping the blue print gallery to become bigger and stronger.

After the unremitting appeals of the members, the Nantong municipal government invested 5 million yuan to build a new blue print Gallery in the ecological green land of Hao Dong in the city.

In July 2002, the museum successfully moved to the site.

Following the relocation of the blue print gallery to the new site, the nine CPPCC and CPPCC members concerned about her development and actively offered suggestions for protecting, rescuing, mining, inheriting, developing and innovating the traditional folk art of blue printed cloth.

The investigation report of CPPCC has aroused the recognition and attention of the leaders of the municipal government.

The municipal development and Reform Commission and other departments took the initiative to exchange views with the CPPCC, and adopted a series of measures respectively to promote the development of the folk craft industry.

In 2006, Nantong blue print technology was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

Nantong blue printed cloth series products also began to be famous at home and abroad.

According to Wu Yuanxin, at the end of last year, the all China Federation of women's federations sent special personnel to inspect and select handicrafts with national characteristics to be presented to excellent female athletes during the Beijing Olympic Games.

With the approval of the Olympic Organizing Committee, Nantong blue printed cloth products have been officially selected as gifts for the ACWF to foreign athletes.
