NPC Deputies: Sichuan Shoe Enterprises Join Hands "To Tap The Domestic Market
Xie Kaihua, NPC deputy and provincial business director, who attended the two session of the eleven National People's Congress in Beijing, told reporters yesterday that our province will strengthen the construction of urban and rural consumption facilities and service systems, promote consumption of urban and rural residents through the network construction, and establish community business service centers (call centers) in cities such as Chengdu.

Xie Kaihua said, our province will take the central city as the center, and let more modern service enterprises spread to two levels of surrounding cities. "We encourage Chengdu's catering to push to the two tier cities, and Chengdu's homemaking services should also be launched to form chain operations."
According to the "notice on further speeding up the construction of community commerce" issued by the provincial commerce department, our province will strive to complete the construction and pformation of community business in 3-5 cities and cities with suitable conditions through the efforts of the past 21 years, so that the basic living needs of community residents such as shopping, catering, maintenance, hairdressing, laundry, housekeeping services and recycling of renewable resources can be met in the community.
It is revealed that the business department is planning to establish a community business service center (call center) in cities such as Chengdu, when the public needs the convenience of people in the community business, property, home economics, and so on. "We will discuss the issue of government investment with the financial sector." Xie Kaihua said, our province may invest financial funds to promote this work.
Organizing hundreds of enterprises to expand overseas markets
In promoting enterprise sales, Xie Kaihua said in an interview with reporters that Chengdu's leather shoes industry and furniture industry are planning to open up domestic sales channels. He said that last year, our province's leather shoes export earned three hundred million or four hundred million US dollars, and this year's export orders were reduced. Under such circumstances, Sichuan shoe enterprises will establish a "Consortium" and jointly establish a Sichuan shoe sales shop in Chengdu and two tier cities, starting the brand of Sichuan shoes in the domestic market and promoting sales through brand. The business department will promote this action.
Xie Kaihua said that while expanding domestic demand, our province will still not relax the export of stable Sichuan products. This is in line with the state's policy. The government's work report said that this year China will "strive to maintain steady growth in foreign trade", stressing that domestic demand must be expanded, but that "export easing" must not be relaxed. In order to stabilize the export of Sichuan enterprises, our province intends to organize about 100 enterprises in the first half of the year to expand into emerging markets overseas. He said that our province will also stabilize foreign trade growth by rewarding leading figures from foreign exchange earning enterprises.
Cultivating 5-10 characteristic catering demonstration streets
Reporters learned that, in order to promote the construction of characteristic restaurant blocks, gather business resources and expand the market scale, the Provincial Department of Commerce has decided to carry out the accreditation work of catering demonstration Street (city), and gradually cultivate a batch of distinctive food street (city) to promote its agglomeration effect. In 2009, our province will strive to cultivate 5-10 characteristic catering demonstration streets (cities).
