Wang Yongqing: The Heart Of The Motherland.
The owner of the rice shop goes to the plastic king.
In January 18, 1917, a poor peasant family in Xin Dian, Taipei County, Taiwan, was delighted to add new recruits. This was Wang Yongqing, who was later regarded as the "God of management".
At the age of 15, Wang Yongqing graduated from primary school and worked as a miscellaneous worker in the tea garden. He went to a millet shop in Chiayi County of southern Taiwan for a year as an apprentice. In second years, Wang Yongqing made the first important decision in his life. He opened the rice shop as his own boss, and the start-up fund was 200 yuan borrowed from his father.
Because of the competition among many peers, how to get consumers to buy the products of Wangjia rice mill has made Wang Yongqing worry. Finally, he thought of "service" to win with the most caring service.
Wang Yongqing did not go to the customer's house to inspect the rice jar. He estimated that the number of days he could eat was recorded in the pamphlet. When the customer visited the rice shop a few days before the date was available, the rice was first cleared, the rice was wiped clean, the new rice was poured into the cylinder, and then the old rice was poured on it.
Using the "Wangjia rice mill" customers to see Wang Yongqing attentive and diligent, good service, so he became a long-term customer. He became famous for his service and became the best rice shop in Chiayi.
Wang Yongqing said that at night he heard the hawker selling fish balls soup, meatballs and zongzi selling all over the place far and wide. He could still hear his loud and loud cries when he passed by and ran far away. Even if very few people patronize, these peddlers still peddle the past in the street, take pains. If the customer speaks rudely to the salesperson, "you can come at once!" We always feel that he is too rude to feel unhappy, but hawkers will never feel this way. If someone calls out rudely, "sell pork dumplings, come!" Or "fish balls soup, come on!" The hawker will still reply quickly: "here we go! Here we go! " The voice is very soft and pleasant. Why do those peddlers do not feel that their guests are rude and can still do business in a gentle voice? Because selling along the street for a long time, it is hard for anyone to come and patronize. Of course, we must be happy. This is the reason for doing business. Wang Yongqing believes that if the salesperson knows this, he will not know how many times he will be happy in the sales promotion.
Over the past few years, the business of rice store is getting more and more popular. Wang Yongqing has organized a rice mill and completed the primitive accumulation of personal capital. Since then, the fate of Wang Yongqing has changed.
In the early 50s of last century, the industrial bureau of Taiwan launched a series of industrial development plans, including the use of American aid to build PVC, the basic raw material of petrochemical industry. Wang Yongqing, who was 38 years old, boldly took over the unpromising project at that time and established the Taiwan plastics industry Limited by Share Ltd. After that, Wang Yongqing, who has been a great success in the field of plastics, has set up a large number of enterprises such as South Asia plastics factory and Taiwan chemical fiber industry company.
Relying on the management system of "insisting on the complete separation of the two powers", the Formosa Plastics Group has become the king of Taiwan enterprises. It has 9 companies, including Formosa Plastic Co, South Asia plastics company, Formosa Chemicals Fibre Corp, Taiwan chemical dyeing and finishing company, Tai Xu fiber company, Taili garments company, Yu Zhi Industrial Company, Chaoyang timber company and Xinmao timber company, etc., and also has several large companies in the United States. The amount of capital in 1984 reached US $more than 4 billion 500 million, with an annual turnover of US $3 billion, accounting for 5.5% of the gross national product of Taiwan. There are more than 1500 downstream processing plants that have a relationship with the Formosa Plastics Group.
After the global boom, many Taiwan enterprises began to pay attention to the development potential of the network. This idea is inspired by Wang Yongqing's instructions, showing his ideas to be avant garde and novel.
When the Formosa Plastics Company was founded, it produced PVC plastic powder and plastic processing products. It was not touched with electronic technology at the early stage, but Wang Yongqing's concept was quite new and was at the cutting edge of the times. When the computer is not yet popular, Formosa Plastics enterprises decide to be computerized. Wang Yongqing believes that through computer management, people can avoid man-made negligence and fraud, production, sales and accounting more transparent, and timely grasp the key points to make decisions, improve efficiency.
Wang Yongqing used to have the idea of using electronic equipment to save orders. He believes that it is better to buy fax machines to distributors and downstream processing plants than to ask the salesperson to discuss the order specifications and quantities with customers on the phone, and to fax all the needs and orders to Formosa Plastics enterprises, which can enhance efficiency and save telephone costs.
Today, he is the leader of Taiwan's richest people. He ranks among the top 50 in the world chemical industry, and is the only enterprise in Taiwan to enter the "top 50 enterprises in the world".
Haicang deducts patriotic businessmen
In 1989, China was facing the plight of foreign capital being divestment. At this point, Wang Yongqing began his first visit to the mainland.
This year, Formosa Plastics Group has been founded for 35 years, and has already had a large scale in Taiwan.
After field visits in the mainland, Wang Yongqing decided to establish a large, self managed, and vertically integrated petrochemical industrial zone in Xiamen, which was named "the 901 project" at that time, which is known as the Haicang plan later. According to this plan, Wang Yongqing will build 36 factories including 15 thousand tons of ethylene, 900 thousand tons of PVC100, 14 million tons of oil and 14 million tons of refinery, with a total investment of 7 billion US dollars.
In November 6, 1992, the Haicang plan was successfully negotiated. However, things were very difficult because the island's restrictions on Taiwanese investment in mainland China were very strict at that time. Because of various reasons, the Haicang plan was forced to strangle at the last minute.
But Wang Yongqing did not abandon the mainland market. Instead, he adjusted his strategy and stepped forward step by step. Today, the total investment volume of Taiwan Plastics Group in the mainland has exceeded 10 billion US dollars, and its investment industry is not only in the petrochemical industry, but also in medical and other public welfare industries. Wang Yongqing, the first Taiwanese businessman to invest in the mainland on a large scale, has become one of the most investment Taiwanese businessmen in mainland China.
The only Taiwan business in the energy field
After the failure of the Haicang plan, it was difficult for Wang Yongqing to put forward a large-scale investment plan to the mainland for a while. What should I do? He adjusted his strategy and began to invest in the mainland by taking advantage of the "small diversification" mode. Over the years, Formosa Plastics Group has established more than 30 enterprises in mainland China, covering many fields. Among them, Zhangzhou Huayang power plant investment construction is obviously must be mentioned.
Huayang power plant in Zhangzhou is Wang Yongqing's largest investment project in mainland China, and is the only major investment project for Taiwan enterprises to enter the mainland's energy and power industry. Huayang power plant in Zhangzhou has a total investment of 3 billion US dollars, and now there are 6 600 thousand kilowatts supercritical generating units put into commercial operation. In 2003, after the shortage of power supply in mainland China, the Huayang power plant in Zhangzhou gained huge profits. At present, the profit is up to RMB 100 million yuan, and its annual profit is more than RMB 5 billion yuan.

Although the Haicang plan has not been successful, Wang Yongqing's dream of building a petrochemical Kingdom on the mainland has not been extinguished. After years of investigation, he cast his eyes on Ningbo, Zhejiang.
The investment plan, known as the "great ethylene project", has a total investment of US $13 billion and a planned area of more than 2000 hectares. We mainly build light oil cracking, petrochemical intermediate raw materials, power plants and port terminals. The first phase of the project was officially launched in 2000. Initially, Taiwan chemical company was responsible for the construction of pure PTA plant, polystyrene (PS) plant and ABS resin plant. The Formosa Plastics Corp is responsible for the construction of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant and acrylic acid (AE) plant.
In June 2004, Wang Yongqing proposed the two phase of the "big ethylene project", including 10 million tons of refineries and 1 million 200 thousand tons of ethylene cracking plant. The total investment is up to ten billion US dollars.
However, compared with the first phase of construction, Tai Mo Ningbo ethylene has been subject to environmental approvals and Taiwan authorities' policies and so on. At the end of December last year, due to some environmental protection and safety production accidents caused by thermal power plants, the initial work of the Ningbo ethylene project was delayed, and the Formosa Plastics project was stranded.
After Wang Yongqing's death, Formosa Plastics Group said that the current investment projects of the company in mainland China, especially the petrochemical projects in Ningbo, will not be affected. Wang Yongqing's dream of establishing the "Formosa Plastics kingdom" on the mainland will continue.
Build efficient logistics network
Although every step of Wang Yongqing's investment in China seems to be scattered, it has far-reaching significance. In order to enable Formosa Plastics to develop better in the mainland, Wang Yongqing actively constructed a logistics network in Taiwan. Among them, Beilun port wharf is the most attractive port.
To invest in the construction of Beilun port special purpose port in Ningbo is not only an important part of the Formosa Petrochemical area, but also has important strategic considerations. The port of Beilun, Ningbo, has an obvious advantage of deep water, which can berth 250 thousand tons of ships. It is currently one of the most advanced container terminals in the mainland with the best water depth conditions and the most advanced handling equipment. It is also the main transshipment port for crude oil and refined oil in the mainland. This is one of the important considerations of Wang Yongqing's choice of Ningbo to build petrochemical industry.
In addition, the logistics layout of Formosa Plastics in the mainland is also quite positive. Apart from taking Shunde as a logistics base in Southern China, the Formosa Plastics Group also plans to set up logistics companies in Shanghai, Ningbo, Dalian and Tianjin as logistics centers in East China and North China, thus establishing a circulation system in the mainland. At present, Ningbo has been identified as the center of goods in East China, with Qingdao as the logistics center of North China, promoting the development of the logistics industry based on "cabinet replacing warehouse" mode. Its container handling capacity is 2000 TEUs per quarter. To improve logistics efficiency, the Formosa Plastics Group invested two hundred million yuan to build a large trailer transport team in the mainland, and plans to build 200 convoys in the first phase. It is estimated that after the completion of the three major logistics sites, more than 1 million tons of plastic raw materials can be processed in one year.
