Jia Qinglin pointed out that Hongkong has returned to the motherland for twelve years, and Macao is about to return to the motherland 10th anniversary.
With the strong support of the central government and the mainland of China, the two special administrative region governments have united and led the compatriots in Hong Kong and Macao to forge ahead and strive for self-improvement, so as to maintain the prosperous development of Hong Kong and Macao and the social stability and harmony.
Jia Qinglin stressed that promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and realizing the complete reunification of the motherland are the common aspiration of the Chinese and foreign children at home and abroad.
Over the past sixty years, the CPC and the Chinese government have made long-term and unremitting efforts to solve the Taiwan issue.
Adhering to the basic principle of "peaceful reunification and one country, two systems", we should unite with Taiwan compatriots most extensively, oppose any separatist plot of "Taiwan independence" and promote the continuous development of cross-strait relations.
Since May last year, the cross straits relations have witnessed a historic turning point, and there has been a new prospect of cross-strait personnel exchanges and exchanges. The peaceful development of cross-strait relations has shown bright prospects.
Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits should cherish and jointly safeguard the good momentum of improvement and development of cross-strait relations.

The Chinese government will, as always, adhere to the principle of "people-oriented, serve overseas Chinese", protect the legitimate rights and interests of the vast majority of overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese in accordance with the law, care for the long-term survival and development of overseas Chinese in the host country, and maximize the strength of the Chinese children at home and abroad, and work together to achieve the complete reunification of the motherland and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
