The "Three Barriers" Of Part-Time Entrepreneurship

The "Three Barriers" Of Part-Time Entrepreneurship

One Monday evening, many students from Renmin University of China Business School hurried to the classroom just after they finished the meal, preparing for the six o'clock lesson.

This is an elective course for graduate students, called management consulting.

At this time, Mr. Peng's energetic teacher on the podium did not see that he hurried back to Beijing from the field in the morning.

Peng Jianfeng, Professor of the school of labor and personnel at Renmin University of China, has been employed as a senior management consultant by many domestic enterprises, such as HUAWEI and TCL. At the same time, he has set up two major local consulting companies in China: He Jun and China cornerstone management consulting group.

It is no wonder that professors have gone to sea to do business. But how to balance the arts if we want to assume two roles of professors and businessmen at the same time?

Peng Jianfeng's response to this is that now I have basically no dealings with the school circle. Although the tone is strong, there is a hint of helplessness. As a practical management teacher, there must be practical experience.

Although Peng Jianfeng himself strongly believes that there is no contradiction between teaching and running companies, some undesirable consequences have emerged.

Peng Jianfeng was not selected for the p century talent program of the Ministry of education.

But Mr. Peng is lucky to win a few hundred thousand or even millions of salary each year while he is a part-time entrepreneur.

By contrast, teacher Wang Yongcheng, 66, Computer Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is not so lucky.

In early 2004, Professor Wang Yongcheng was jointly removed by 9 doctoral students.

The reason for changing the mentor is that Professor Wang has long been asked to do the project for the Shanghai Nash high tech Applied Research Institute, founded by him, rather than the guidance of their students' academic research.

Part time entrepreneurship is a balanced art.

Teachers may be the most suitable group to start a part-time job, especially in teaching or research which is very practical. However, they still face a difficult balance between the two professions.

For other industry practitioners, part-time entrepreneurship is faced with many challenges.

Generally speaking, most of the part-time entrepreneurs are engaged in the industry related to their current jobs, which may involve the improper use of the resources of the current work units.

The incumbents start a part-time job, usually with limited venture capital and limited time and energy.

Therefore, most people who have entrepreneurial intentions invest in small and medium-sized enterprises.

The way of starting a business can be divided into three levels: first, capital participation; two, technology participation and participation in company dividends; three, capital and output, and management of the company after work.

Of the three ways, third are the most likely to cause public and private differences and conflicts.

This conflict of interest may not be obvious in the early stage of career development.

But once it is bigger, it will lead to endless troubles.

There are many part-time entrepreneurs who have been prosecuted by their old owners, who are involved in disputes over customer resources, intellectual property rights and unfair competition.

And many of the state-owned enterprises' part-time employees start their own businesses, but they are also involved in the illegal pfer of state-owned assets.

Professor Wang Yongcheng of Shanghai Jiaotong University faces many conflicts of interest.

Professor Wang has asked us to make projects for his company for a long time and neglect the guidance of students in their studies.

A doctoral student interviewed by reporters admitted.

Tutors take master's and doctoral students as private property and cheap labor force, and become a profitable tool in their business activities.

Professor Wang's so-called company is actually a truly low-cost operation company. Its office location and telephone use use Jiaotong University teaching resources.

And the company's profits almost all come directly from various research projects that Professor Wang Yongcheng applied to the state, that is to say, the direct source of the company's profits is to earn scientific research funds.

Without the background of Jiaotong University, Professor Wang would not be able to apply for funds for scientific research projects. If there were no scientific research projects, the company would not exist.

A director of Jiaotong University said disdain.

In the United States of America, because of the conflict of interests caused by part-time jobs, many people reluctantly give up the high volume.

Governor Schwarzenegger of the United States voluntarily gave up the governor's salary. Many people thought this was the governor's generosity.

It was later discovered that Schwarzenegger worked as a part-time editor of two magazines and did not work for more than 2 hours a week in magazines. He could get 8 million 150 thousand dollars in 5 years.

In addition, he will receive two magazine advertising revenue of 1% during his part-time job, not less than 1 million dollars a year.

At present, although such problems are relatively rare in China, with the improvement of people's legal awareness, there are more and more similar part-time disputes. All part-time entrepreneurs should be cautious and avoid entering the minefield of conflict of interests.

If the part time entrepreneurs are engaged in industries that are not related to their current jobs, the problem is the ultimate challenge of cross industry work to people's knowledge and energy.

When I first started my business, I got up at 4 o'clock, cleaned up, squatted on the floor, observed chicks, and made notes.

I often squatted for two hours and stayed in front of the shed without moving.

Liu Yonghao, founder of new hope group, recalls his entrepreneurial experience. If you don't invest more than 10 hours a day, don't start your own business.

Part time entrepreneurs, because both sides have invested and scattered energy, have increased the risk of entrepreneurial failure.

As we all know, YAHOO chairman Yang Zhiyuan, Microsoft chairman Bill Gate, DELL founder Michael DELL all belong to a group of people who drop out of school to do business.

Because learning and entrepreneurship are two entirely different contents, they eventually have to give up their studies and concentrate on completing their own businesses.

In this regard, Yang Zhiyuan once advised the younger generation of Chinese people to finish reading the book. I personally had to finish my doctorate, and I still have a little regret today.

From Yang Zhiyuan's remarks, we can see that Yang does not like to study, but is too distracted and hard to balance.

By the winter of 1994, I was too busy to eat and sleep.

    Yang recalled.

Peng Jianfeng, chairman of the cornerstone of China's foundation, also made his time extremely valuable because of his part-time career. He always gave students a large class, and many students felt deeply sorry.

The school even used this as an excuse to prohibit Peng Jianfeng himself from carrying a doctoral student.

Contrary to team spirit, most businesses need a good team.

The core members of the entrepreneurial team are very few, generally three or four people, and many of them are just a dozen.

All the members of a good entrepreneurial team should have the same spirit and share the strong heart and cohesiveness of the team.

In such a team, it is very difficult to have the survival of two people, because part-time entrepreneurship is difficult for other team members to convince you, they will doubt your belief in business success.

Why is team entrepreneurship so important?

Zhen Ronghui, President of 51JOB, who has been in business for more than 1 billion yuan in 6 years, recalled that in his interview with reporters, he had had several entrepreneurial failures. One of the reasons for his failure was that he did not build a team.

Because entrepreneurship is not something that can be done by one person, it needs a group of people. It is more necessary to build a team early, and bring some partners that can complement each other.

The key to the rapid growth of worry is that the 5 core members of the company are their colleagues in Bain. As we all know, they have worked together for over ten years, and it is easier to cooperate.

Of course, some people like to fight alone and do not need a team to start a business.

But such people are bound to make great difficulties.

The so-called online shop, street flowers and so on and so on, although it is suitable for individuals to fight, but for many people, it is actually not a real sense of entrepreneurship, rather rather a kind of evasion of the current job is not satisfied, just for a living method has been, generally difficult to become the atmosphere.

It is obvious that motivation is different from many successful people who start their own businesses with interest.

In fact, many people do not have much improvement or change after a small business. They often fall into the confusion of life.

In short, although part-time entrepreneurs face many difficult challenges, they do not mean that there are no winners.

However, they only need a pition or accumulation in the initial stage of entrepreneurship. Once the time is ripe, they will quit their original work steadfast and quickly and devote themselves to it.

Because part-time entrepreneurship is just an expedient measure.
