Du Weiming, a Chinese American, a lecture professor at Harvard University, Dean of the Institute of advanced humanities, Peking University, and a member of the United Nations distinguished group of people who promote dialogue among civilizations.

In the era of Opium War, Shanghai was only a geographical term. During the 54 Movement, Shanghai had become an international city of all kinds.

From the founding of new China to the 30 years of reform and opening up, the "Shanghai memory" is intricate. It needs to collect a large amount of data, documents and archives, and mobilize experts and scholars in humanities, philosophy, literature, history, religion and Social Sciences (human, social, political, economic, psychological, news, business management).

I have participated in the conference organized by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences for the study of Shanghai culture, and have also put forward some superficial views of laymen.

I believe that if we do not know Shanghai, we will not be able to describe the basic outline of China's pition from modern to modern, from modern to contemporary and from the contemporary to the future.

I think that Shanghai World Expo not only outlines the historical process of China's modernization from modern times to modern times, nor is it the macroscopic image of China's economic development since reform and opening up.

The four famous quotes put forward by Fei Xiaotong during his visit to Japan in his late years can best highlight the spirit of Shanghai World Expo providing "platform for dialogue" for various "core values".

"Every beauty" refers to 192 countries and 50 international organizations. Each participant presents the most beautiful and most valuable technology, architectural style and humanistic concept to the world.

From the beauty of beauty and beauty to beauty and harmony, the "Great Harmony of the world" has become an inspiration for a peaceful culture.

This is my expectation for Shanghai World Expo.
