Henan Institute of Science and Technology is a provincial general undergraduate college.

Founded in 1949, its predecessor originated from the Department of biology, Yanan Academy of natural sciences, Kasetsart University, Changzhi and Changzhi Plain Agricultural School, and went through the Plains Agricultural College, Baiquan agricultural college, Henan vocational and technical normal college and so on.

In 1987, it was upgraded to an undergraduate institution. In May 2004, it was renamed Henan Institute of Science and Technology by the Ministry of education.

The school is located in the central city of Xinxiang, covering an area of 1365 mu, with an area of 620 thousand square meters.

The total amount of literature resources in the library is more than 153 volumes, and more than 3600 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals.

There are 8 open laboratory of key disciplines in Henan Province, provincial key laboratory training base, provincial engineering and technology research center, experimental teaching demonstration center of provincial colleges and universities, 5 Henan science and technology innovation team, provincial science and technology innovation team and provincial high school teaching team.

The school is the first batch of "national key construction vocational teacher training base", "National Vocational and technical teachers training base", "Henan sunshine project" farmers' entrepreneurship training base and new agricultural technology training base.

In 2007, the school's undergraduate teaching was evaluated by the Ministry of education as "excellent".

The school has 15 teaching institutes (departments) and 47 undergraduate specialties. The subjects cover 8 universities, including agronomy, engineering, education, management, literature, science, economics, law and so on.

There are 3 state-level special specialties, 9 Henan characteristic specialties and famous brand specialties.

It has 2 key disciplines in Henan, 5 Master degree authorized disciplines, 3 individual admissions, and joint training of master degree authorized disciplines.

There are adult education colleges and private independent colleges in the school.

At present, there are more than 28000 kinds of students, including 24000 full-time students and more than 4000 adult education students. They have formed a multi-level and multi-disciplinary school running pattern with undergraduate education as the main body, and graduate education, higher vocational education and adult higher education.

According to the demand for talents in the economic and social development, we should reform the teaching content and curriculum system in a timely manner, highlight the practical teaching links, and creatively build a training mode of "double quality, bistatic construction, double skills training, double certificate system" and "four double" engineering training in the whole country. We have implemented a new mode of "double post internship and replacement training" for the training of vocational teachers, and have carried out the innovative practice of "professional + special + special certificate" and "discipline + professional + base + company + peasant household (enterprise)".

During the twenty-ninth Beijing Olympic Games held in 2008, 66 students were selected to participate in the Olympic catering service. Since the reform and opening up, we have completed 1070 international research projects, including national cooperation projects, 863, 973, natural science funds, major scientific and technological research projects, support programs, major scientific and technological projects of genetically modified organisms, and 415 scientific and technological achievements. Among them, 2 were two national technological inventions, 6 were national science and technology progress awards, and a number of national invention patents.

The high yield wheat cultivar "Bai Nong 3217", which was bred by the school, was awarded the two prize of the national invention, creating a social and economic benefit of 5 billion yuan. A new double resistant pgenic cotton variety "Bai Mian 1" was approved by the new crop variety of the state. It was awarded the national safety certificate of agricultural genetically modified organisms and the certificate of new plant variety rights. It was widely planted in the whole country and extended to Central Asian countries such as Kyrgyzstan. The total yield increased by more than 2 billion yuan. The state approved the school to establish the "China Kyrgyzstan agricultural science and technology demonstration Park" in Kyrgyzstan with the cotton variety as the main body.

The new wheat variety "Bai Nong Kang Kang 58" increased 1 billion 600 million Jin in the summer harvest of Henan in 2009, and made a great contribution to the construction of the national grain core area. The autumn sowing area exceeded 30 million mu, becoming the largest wheat variety in Huang Huai wheat region, and the total yield increased by 1 billion 500 million yuan.

August 1949 provincial agricultural school in plain

1951 plain provincial agricultural school, Kasetsart University, Beijing Changzhi branch (1949 North China University (Agricultural College Changzhi branch) renamed Beijing Kasetsart University Changzhi branch) merged into a Plain Agricultural College (undergraduate).

In 1952, the Plains Agricultural College (part) merged into Hebei agricultural college, and now develops into Agricultural University of Hebei.

In 1952, the Plains Agricultural College (veterinary group) participated in the merger and upgraded to the Inner Mongolia Institute of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. Now it has developed into the Inner Mongolia Academy of agriculture and animal husbandry and Inner Mongolia Agricultural University.

In 1952, the Plains Agricultural College (part) participated in the merger and upgraded to the Henan agricultural college. Now it is developing into Henan Agricultural University.

In 1952, the Plains Agricultural College (Forest Department) participated in the merger and upgraded to Beijing Forestry College. Now it has developed into Beijing Forestry College.

In 1952, the Plains Agricultural College (part) merged and upgraded to the Mechanized Agricultural College of Beijing, and later developed into Beijing agricultural mechanization college and Beijing Agricultural Engineering University. Now it is involved in the merger and establishment of China Agricultural University.

In 1953, Baiquan agricultural college was converted to Baiquan agricultural school, and Zhengzhou cotton school was incorporated into Baiquan agricultural school (secondary vocational school). In 1957, Baiquan agricultural school (animal husbandry / veterinary specialty) was converted into Zhengzhou animal husbandry and veterinary school, and later developed into Zhengzhou animal husbandry and Veterinary College and Zhengzhou College of Animal Husbandry Engineering.

In 1958, Baiquan agricultural school was upgraded to Baiquan Agricultural College (undergraduate), and Baiquan agricultural school was cancelled.

In 1959, Baiquan agricultural college was renamed the Agricultural College of Xinxiang special district.

In 1962, Zhengzhou water conservancy school (part) merged into Baiquan agricultural college.

In 1987, Baiquan agricultural college was upgraded to Henan vocational and Technical Normal College (undergraduate).

In 2004, Henan vocational and Technical Teachers College was renamed Henan Institute of Science and Technology (undergraduate).
