The increase in global fabric inventories is due to an increase in inventories in Asia and South America and a slight increase in European inventories. South American yarn orders increased, but Europe remained unchanged. Orders for European fabrics increased and South America grew significantly.


    In the first quarter of 2010, world yarn production decreased by -12.8% compared with the previous quarter. The main reason is China's reduction (-17.5%). Europe also reduced -4.0%, while North America and South America increased +5.1% and +17.4% respectively. Compared with the fourth quarter of last year, average production in all regions increased. The growth rate was +60.4%, and the yarn production in South America increased significantly, but Europe's output growth (+20,1%), Asian growth (+14.6%) and North American growth (+1.5%).

World yarn inventory dropped by -7.7% compared with the same period last year, with South America decreasing by -31.4%, Asia by -8.1% and Europe by -4.7%.

Meanwhile, orders for fabrics in Brazil and Europe increased by +9.5% and +18.1% respectively.
