    For the first time

    Literary Fair

    Affirmed

This year is the first time that ho Chao has formally participated in the fair.

    Copperplate

The golden painting of hand carving is the second appearance at the fair.

The first appearance was in 2006.

At that time, when a painter in Shenzhen saw their handicrafts at a gift show, he invited them to produce 120 black gold plated "people's livelihood maps" as their own works, and finally won the silver award of the fair.

After 4 years, this time, He Chao took part in the art fair with all kinds of bronze carving and bronze decorations painted by his factory.

As a result, "thousand hands Guanyin" also won the silver prize for him. The difference is that the prize winning author wrote the name "he Chao".

This time, the works that he brought to the exhibition included copper carvings, Thangka series, copper coloured carved flowers and birds series, bronze plates, and thousand hand Guanyin.

Let He Chao take delight in saying that many people bought their copper coloured carving at the scene.

    Decorative painting

There are also judges who won awards for the "Chinese arts and crafts cultural and Creative Award". They not only bought his decorative paintings, but also said they wanted to buy them back.

This Fair won him two silver awards and an excellent exhibition award, with sales of up to about 300000 yuan on site. Apart from these decorative paintings, he collected a small amount of Japanese carved iron pots.

    Five thousand fingers, a lot.

After attending the fair, he intends to regenerate a batch.

    Thousand-hand Bodhisattva

In Sharon's factory, we saw the thousand handed Guanyin which was being produced. The workers were carving one thousand eyes, one thousand hands and five thousand fingers carefully. All these details were carved out by a knife with a pen in hand.

He Chao also showed us the original prize winning works. There are a lot of tiny five thousand fingers in thousand hand Guanyin. The whole work is not only a simple depiction, but a combination of more than 10 carving techniques such as wire drawing, sand beating, twisting and so on. It takes more than a month at least, and the gold line is gleaming after gold plating.

He Chao told reporters that the award was mainly due to the fact that the form of his handicraft was relatively fresh and the technology was relatively fine, which touched the judges.

"This form of carving and painting on copper is relatively rare in China now. My bronze painting of hand carved gold was studied by myself. It took more than 10 years of exploration to form today's technology."

It took ten years to develop copper painting.

In 1997, he Chao was inspired by copperplate printing, and began to study the making of copper hand carved gold paintings.

Before that, he had been dealing with all kinds of metal sculptures for years.

He Chao graduated from the industrial design and Design Department of Hefei mechanical engineering department in 1993 and came to work in a high voltage Switchgear Factory in Zhongshan. Soon, he resigned from his own business because he was not very familiar with his major in modeling design.

At the very beginning, he studied jewelry carving with a Chinese returned from Hawaii. After training, he trained a group of apprentices to carve and process some jewelry export enterprises.

Later, the jewelry export industry was declining. In order to absorb more business, he had successively carved, such as lighters, buckles, doorknobs and so on.

On one occasion, he received an order for the shell of a famous international brand lighter. The cost he paid him was not high, but later he saw in a magazine that the price of the lighter that they had engraving shell was thousand yuan.

"At that time, I found that the value added of high-end handicrafts could be so high."

In 1997, he began to think about creating his own works.

In the past, he carved gold, silver, alloy and stainless steel, but these metals were either expensive or hard. He thought of relatively easy carved copper: copper has a golden yellow color. If the copper plate is painted on the black background, it is like painting gold on black paper.

At first, he was baffled by the coating on the copper plate, because the ordinary coating was not strong enough to peel off quickly, affecting the quality of the painting. After scrapping large quantities of copper, he finally found a strong coating way.

The second problem is that copper is relatively easy to oxidize. Although the glossiness of the newly created sculpture is good, it will be dull for a long time. For this reason, he has explored the method of gold-plated copper painting.

In 2008, his bronze hand carving technology began to mature.

After seeing a product of a product, a Beijing guest specially made a bronze painting of hand carved gold according to Tang Bohu's "spring mountain companion map".

Subsequently, some high-end restaurants in Beijing began to customize their gold paintings as decorative paintings in the lobby.

In order to allow more people to accept this kind of handicrafts, he Chao began to develop a group of dealers to sell their gold paintings. In some shopping malls in Zhongshan, there were counters set up by Zhuhai dealers.

Copper hand carved gold paintings are hand carved and gilded, and the price is relatively high. He Chao has also developed some small paintings to take the company gift route.

Draw colored Thangka on the copperplate.

In the past two years, He Chao has been looking for themes and Inspirations on Oriental elements. He has developed an upgraded version of copper plate carving crafts on the basis of copper hand carved gold painting. He thinks this is the direction of the development of high-end handicrafts in China.

Buddhism is one of the main themes of his works. He noticed that more and more people with cultural accomplishment or wealth began to pursue meditation in deep mountains and seek spiritual tranquility. They regard Zen meditation as a way of life. These people also like to hang Buddhist paintings in their living rooms as decorations, because the Buddha itself can give people a sense of tranquility.

He began to produce a large number of heavy and tranquil Buddhist bronze carving crafts to cater to this demand, and ran to Tibet with partners to buy some books from Thangka and Thangka, looking for themes and inspiration.

In his workshop, in addition to the bronze carving of gold, we also saw a bronze statue of a tall man, such as the Bodhisattva Bodhisattva, the Green Tara Bodhisattva, and Thangka. The color of the copper plate still has bright luster, and the copper plate carving is more dazzling in the bright place than on the paper or the canvas.

In order to cater to the mass market, he also found some Chinese flower and bird themes in Suzhou embroidery, and made small pieces of copper coloured carvings and decorative paintings to meet the needs of home decoration market.

Now, restricted by capital and manpower, his bronze carving and color carving are still small batch production, but he feels he has caught the demand of high-end gift market. Next, he will develop his own handicraft brand.

"I want to make copper handcrafted gold paintings and colorful carvings into handmade handicrafts as famous as Suzhou embroidery. Of course, it can't be done by me alone. I hope more people can join this industry and make the industry exquisite, but not cheap and crude."

He Chao has been doing business in Zhongshan for more than 10 years. His gold craft factory is hidden in the Shalan industrial area. The office buildings and workshops on the same floor are not large in scale. But the handicraft produced by this factory won the silver award at the fair held in Shenzhen this year.

With the combination of traditional oriental themes and bronze carving and bronze carving decorations, he went through more than 10 years of groping to make his handicraft a distinctive road in many handicrafts.
